As some of you know, I am fitting a 1.8 Zetec engine in my build.

Just for the challenge I would like to get it up & running by using the stock Ford EEC IV ECU

If all goes pear shaped, I do have both MJ & MS at my disposal & ready to go ;)

Anyhow, to the point of this thread

Does anyone know the size of the Zetecs Fuel pump relay & will it fit into one of these relay holders ??

CBS Relay holder (http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/4-way-relay-box-rlybox-3521-p.asp)

I don't want to use the Sierras fuse box due to the sheer bulk of the thing.

Already sorted a nice fuse holder & would like to keep my relays tidy & all in the same place

The flasher relay will be too big but that can live under the steering column shroud as it did on the Sierra

Kicking myself that I did not give the fuel pump relay a thought when I removed the engine from the Escort donor :o

My zetec is running on a standard BLOB ecu (non PATS), using a fiesta wiring loom.

I used a 40amp relay for the fuel pump and another one for the ignition.

Thank's David :)

Are the relays that you are using just the standard size 40a units.

Just wasn't sure wether the Pump relay was an exotic one & bulkier than usual

That was my thinking behind the CBS relay holder Ignition, fuel pump, rad fan & lights.
That would take care of all the relays I would need & will keep things nice and tidy :)

Just a standard 40amp one off ebay i got.

Just a side note.. the signal from the ecu to the fuel pump relay is the earth. (it switches the earth to control the relay, instead of the 12v+)

Cheer's for the heads up on that one David :)

That one would have almost certainly caught me out

Just need to get back into the workshop & get the engine fitted back in :o

And just to make your day Ronnie, the flasher unit can be replaced with a short one from an Escort etc to match the other relays, no difference at all!

Dennis.

I knew that :o:o :D

It'll be nice to keep them all in the same place.

Thanks for that Dennis :)
