It's gone all quiet on here at the moment - must be everyone out sunbathing :D

So what is everyone doing to their cars at the moment?

Chassis and 90% of parts are now painted. Got the floor cut out, drilled and cleco'd in place. Whipped it off last night and fitted the diff mounts so I don't forget to put the bolts in before I fit the seat back:p Also started running the fuel and brake pipes down the tunnel - I'm getting excited now as things are starting to be fitted properly :D

1) MK1 Golf,
Off For MOT, Mechanics on holiday so don't knwo the status.

2) XR4x4

Relocated the aerial amp and fitted the tailgate trim.

3) Sapphire

Not a lot done, need to fit the alarm this week and get the second rear caliper on

4) Roadster,

Have moved all the engines into the garage yesterday, started to clean one of them up ( not sure if it's the one I will use ). Sprayed up the primer on the last two wishbones, need to get the black paint to finish them off.

Also this week I will be putting the chassis the right way up ( on side at moment ), and trial fitting the engine for a bit of a laugh..

Have been doing loads of work David, catching up and promo stuff + sunbathing, finishing off bodywork out the back in the sun.....;)

Done 600 miles in the car the last week:

Last Tuesday car show at Sedgefield
Thursday fitted new cams and plenty of running in testing,
Saturday Newark Kit Car show
Sunday Croft for touring cars - got burnt
Monday Elwick Village car show
Tuesday (tonight) car show at Bishop Auckland if anyones up in the area.

The good lady has hardly seen me - and is really chilled:D

But your right the forum has been quiet recently - probably the good weather and football and everyone's getting on with their build. Sure it will get back to normal when HAndy returns....

Afternoon men,

Not much movement on the roadster, work and all that. Won’t be doing any this weekend as I am currently in Weymouth for two weeks with work. Living the dream!

Cheers Ginge

We've been away to a motorhome show this last weekend so nowt happened at work from Thursday till yesterday. I now have my MT75 hybrid box sorted and have today made the last of the transfer tubes for the inlet manifold. Just need to hire a TIG welder to glue all the bits together. A webshite update is imminent:D .

Measuerd up the engine bay and engine box. Tried fitting the engine in the bay but as the unit I was using still has the front diff fitted it was never going to sit in place. but the overall length from the gearbox mount to the front pully is ~116cm and that fits ok in the space by my calcs.

Also trial fitted one set of rear bones.

And cleaned up a section of the chassis and sprayed it ready for doing the floor.....

Removed the engine from the donor car and did a partial strip down. Need to do a compression check to make sure its all good. Next stage is to wait for my insurance cash to clear should be Thu then can order a gearbox and all the chassis kit :D so by end of July if all goes well should be rolling chassis with engine fitted heh.

Decided I need some seats and runners before fitting the floor,

Read up about the headlamp mounts

Looked at what needs to be done for the bulkhead on the drivers side..

And My build thread shows where I am at on the construction :)

Spent a couple of evenings and today on the car. Brake and fuel lines are now run throughout the car and riveted in. Bought an air/hydraulic riveter (one of the cheap ones) and it is a fantastic time and energy saver - makes riveting fun :p I've also built up one of the rear corners having cleaned and painted everything. Spent this afternoon cutting out the seat back panel - all ready for drilling and riveting now :)

I've updated the pics on my facebook gallery 3 in my signature.

Hey guys just stop it, I can't take it anymore. All this talk about whats been done. There's no light at the end of my tunnel, packed in work earlier this year to look after grandaughter fulltime, so money extremely short but time even more so. Only get one day a week less other relatives help out and not had any movement on car since last year. Just collected a few bits when possible,at this rate could be longest build yet, could beat Ronnie.

I got one of these -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140415422396&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

You need a compressor that will produce 90psi, but apart from that it uses very little air - I did all the brake and fuel line riveitng and my little 25ltr Lidl compressor only topped up the reservoir once. It's quite a big bit of kit but the actually rivetting nozzle isn't that big - no worse than trying to get the battery drill in to drill the holes.

Same here, may be able to remove one or two from the dole que if my work carries on like this, just picked up a few good contracts so once all the graft is done I should have some ££££ for my build

Now got my seat back cleco'd in place and cut out the drivers side tunnel sheet - all the pics on gallery 3 in my signature. I really wasn't looking forward to this bit of the job but it has turned out to be very enjoyable :D
