My Sierra donor speedo cable is really quite long, with a chunky box on it (looks like a 2nd takeoff, cruise control maybe?) I obviously want a shorter cable. Any idea what my options are, where to go etc?

carbuildersolutions sell universal throttle cables (different lengths). As do many other places.

I'm sure there is a uk company called speedycables who will make a cable any length for any application also Europa will do but seem a bit dear to me.

Post up a picture, it may be worth selling the cable.

What engine are you using? the box will most likly be a VSS and may be needed for correct running of the engine.

It was off a 1.8 CVH Sierra, but I'm using a RS2000 16V DOHC engine in my Haynes. I'm lazy cos I'm off work. As soon as I get dressed and into the garage, I'll take a photo.

David_17? Throttle cable? Seriously?

Twin Turbo. Here is that promised photo of my chunky speedo thing. All it says on it is "1 pulse equals 1 rotation" or words to that effect.

It's not a Ford part by the looks, I expect if you undoo the scres the top will lift of revealing a normal cable.

Yeah, you can see into the unit and its got an exposed speedo cable inside. Hmmmm, sounds like I'm better off getting an original one off ebay or something.
