Hi everyone,

I,ve recently taken some time out from the forum, had a personal situation to try & resolve, & plus felt I needed to recharge my battery :D ( which reminds me, I must dig out my Optimate , ).
I,ve not been idle whilst having a break, been very busy on my Roadster, & I must say, its coming along rather nicely now,
in the last few weeks I,ve done the following to it....

Finished all major wiring connections ( just rear lights to connect up),
Final routing & tidying of all wiring done,
Headlamps & front indicators fitted....& working,
Roll Bar finished,,,, back stays & cross bar welded & bolted in,
Harness mounts fully welded into cross brace of roll bar & Harness,s fitted,
Clutch cable fitted ( nice smooth pedal action)
Throttle cable fitted ( tho might change it as not happy with it)
Fuse boxes & relay bank fitted to engine/scuttle bulkhead
Oil catch tank fitted & plumbed in
Rad & fan fitted
ignition isolator fitted into final position ( took ages to decide where to put it)

Then the one I was worrying about doing ( don,t know why really)
All engine water hoses fitted, expansion tank fitted ( not under the nosecone, I wanted it more accessable & as high up as poss ) so fitted it on the engine/scuttle bulkhead,
fitted new thermostat, checked all hoses were tight ( have used new lengths of ali pipe & after the accident on Ash,s build made sure I put a bead on each tube end) filled with coolant, held breath :o & checked for leaks, none found, so, started the engine, let it warm up, temp gauge working nicely.....then found a small drip drip drip coming from the water pump elbow , have since fitted yet another new gasket there, all watertight now.
long story short........ engine cooling seems to be working a treat.

And finally , today, I fabricated my exhaust down pipe, I,m using an RS turbo exhaust manifold on my CVH engine which gives a nice exit point direction for the downpipe,
fitted my exhaust silencer & started her up, wow , its now nice & quiet :D , tho i have yet to fit a bracket on the bottom chassis rail to hold the exhaust silencer in position but it does look good seeing it alongside the car instead of stood against the wall in my garage LOL.
Also fitted the speedo cable today, & its working great as ran the engine & engaged gear ( no prop fitted yet) & speedo working so happy with that until I can check it properly with a little drive ;) .
All in all, quite alot of progress in the last few weeks.

Hope you,ve all been enjoying the nice weather & getting stuck into your Roadster builds.

cheers

Cheers Adrian & TT...

Even the wife has commented on the Roadster today, she said its looking smart, AND today was the first time she has sat in it, she sat in the drivers seat...... I needn,t panic.....she doesn,t drive :D
Tho she did comment that she,d need to be careful what she,s wearing when she gets in it when its finished, she couldn,t believe how low it is ;)

I,m itching to get the tranny tunnel panels & side panels on but hanging back until I get my prop,
& also I intend to have the brake system fully bled & working before I put the side panels on, as it,ll make it alot easier getting to the M/C ( straight thru side of chassis LOL.

Oh, I forgot to mention that i,ve also fitted a "quick shift" gear change kit, makes the "gate" of the box very short & appears to be more precise engagement, tho haven,t driven it yet.

I,ll get the piccies up tomorrow,

Thanks Twin :)

David.....
I have offered to teach Sue how to drive, but it wouldn,t be in the Roadster  ........in my LDV van :D ......she said "NO thanks"

The progress on my car has been very satisfying, its a nice feeling being able to start her up knowing it will start without thinking..."Is that bit connnected, is the other bit in the right place " sort of feeling, just a simple case of 2 keys ( isolator & ignition ) & she fires up straight away , oh....plus 1 other security device also, but thats a secret :D

Thanks for the welcome back messages guys.

Pics of "the beast" will be tomorrow now, sorry.....

spent the afternoon doing a little more wiring tidy up, why is it when you tidy some wires you end up with yet more wiring that needs repositioning & tidying  feels like i,m painting the Forth Bridge LOL.

Wow, looking good. You are quite a way ahead of me, I have not done the back panel, bonnet or seat belts yet.
Also I have decided that I don't like you any more:p
You might remember that about 3 months back you asked me if my headlamp brackets were too long, I was adamant that they were perfect.
Well they aint. I got my headlights today and on full lock the wings will hit them.
So well spotted Andy, how you could tell that from the photo at the time I don't know but you were spot on. Goddammit:D
Best and all that,
Enoch

here,s a pic of my roll bar back stays, I,ve done them like this to hopefully give a larger opening for some boot space in the future..

Thanks Mark ,

I can,t wait to put the side panels on, but i,m holding that off till as late as I possibly can, as I still have a few odd jobs to do that I need easier access thru the chassis to do them ( bleeding brakes etc )

Well......I was in the navy for a few years so the link with the propeller wheels is quite appropriate I suppose :D
I like the wheels as they hide the small disc & drum setup of the sierra running gear quite well, they are known as propeller style wheels, from the Ford Puma, bought these off "the bay" for £40 with no carriage costs
