Jake

There are some super clever internet types that frequent these pages, I am not one of them, posting pictures via Photobucket and creating links is about as good as I get!:D I to would like to have a web page with my build story on it.

Someone will be along soon, give them time, remember Top Gear is on tonight so it might get a little quiet on here.;)

It can get a bit involved.

I did mine using some forum software which I had already downloaded. I simply gave myself admin rights and closed the forum so that other people couldn't register to post. You need a hosting package with MySQL and PHP and a little bit of savvy to configure it.

Alternatively post it up here and link to it (I don't know if that contravenes any rules....)

I did a quick scan via Google and can't see any sites offering build thread hosting, maybe that is a niche I could try to fill...

Hi Jake,

First you need to think of a domain name such as "mybuilddiary.com"

Then you have to purchase that name from a domain name registrar such as

http://namecheap.com

Then you will need a webhost, to host your chosen domain name.

I would suggest that you find a webhost that provides "Cpanel", this is your website "back-office" that provides you with many tools to administer your website which include "Fantastico".

Within "Fantastico" you can easily and automatically install "Wordpress" to create your own blog website.

Fantastico also has easy installation of photo galleries.

As you build your car you can create posts on your blog, add photos within your posts and also link to your photo gallery.

For your webhosting I would highly recommend

http://davidssmales.gogvo.com

They provide a multitude of free tools, along with
excellent training on every aspect of creating your own online presence.

They also offer a $1 trial for 14 days, and their support is superb.

I hope this info helps.

Any blog site should get you up and running.

I use www.blog.com for one of mine, prefere it over blogspot ( although I am using blogspot for some reason....

I did my website on 1and1. It's very cheap for the basic package and you can upgrade if you want. You get 8 pages to start with which aint a lot but it's probably enough for most people. You can have a photo gallery or insert unlimited images in to the text pages, you do not need to know html or anything to get up and running. Their tech support is pretty good and they have numerous on line tutorials to help get you started.

Definitely a free blogging service is the way to go. No need to purchase the domain, hosting, or anything. Besides http://www.blogspot.com/ you might also look at http://www.wordpress.com and www.livejournal.com. Livejournal has a certain social-networky flavour, and Wordpress is very feature rich, with lots of templates for it available on the Internet. Blogspot is a basic service that is run by Google.
