just a bit of fun realy but im sure there are other engines out there that could be used to fit in the roadster
how about we try and keep it simple so only pre 95 so no cat test and able to fit to std ford doner drive line (diff, back end) idealy still using a type 9 box (diffrent bell housing) or mt75
we all know a zetec, pinto, cvh, ford v6 will go in
but the idea is others
how about somthing small (1000-1400)
or somthing unusual ;)

ok tt where is the web link to buy the adapter and you sure it would fit in the bay without mods
and where would you find one of thoes engines?
sorry not good enough :p
it has to be the right size to fit in the hole and be able to get the bits to couple it all up

had an old customer that worked for peogeot uk that had a westfield with a 205 1.9 gti engine with a type 9 (cut and shut welded ally bell housing)
realy nicely done but the std fuel injection was a bit week. megasquirt would have fixed it but there was nothing like that back then

T5 ( B5234T)
It would have to be an M90 box from a straight 6, very rare to find some 960 had them but most were auto's. Not sure you could cut much out the sump, the main bearings are actually part of one who big bottom end casting that extends the perimiter of the block wall. VERY STRONG THOUGH!!!

How about a nice Toyota Supra Twin Turbo? On a more practical note, I'm surprised that RS turbo engines aren't used with more frequency. I'd have thought the small engine ethos would have been ideal.

RST Engines are not cheap.
RX7/8 Me and spud discussed this whilst on one of his test drives.. Would be gr8, may need a HUGE flashing light to warn of engine over speed as you won't hear the warning buzzer :D

A mate of mine who is a Citroen (spit) specialist is considering building a Haynes roadster but using a Citroen 1.6 HDI diesel engine. Apparently the Suzuki Vitara 4X4 box is a straight fit:confused: .

Definitely a rotary wankel engine, Rx8 version. 230hp out the box, 10k red line, 6 speed box, lsd, small and light. Rx8 because it has the uprated oil vanes, had one for a while and ran 50k no problem while using hardly any oil. Not much torque but you don't really need it in such a light car.
Saturn cant afford it yet but as soon as we can it will be getting built. Just need to find a cheap right off, now they are nearly 8 years old shouldn't be too bad. In fact there is a fair few there on e-bay, bargains will be there to be had:

i have got a new engine and gearbox sitting in my shed ready to go in over winter. its all still top secret at the moment but lets just say its not run of the mill and will produce a lot more power than a tuned duratec for a fair bit less money

Now we've mentioned the Rx-8 TT we are just about to start the Wankel based Rx8 based on the Nemesis 13B which has the upgraded oil vanes and is more reliable than the Rx7 version. The cars will have the stock 231bhp with a 6 speed box and lsd and due to the compact and lightness of the engine we are aiming for a target weight of 500kg with the upgraded chassis to 2mm wall thickness for extra strength and rigidity. First one is planned to be on the road for end of September and will be called the "Saturn Roadster RW460" as in 460bhp / Tonne.
Cant Wait....AndyH

Some suggestions about suitable gearboxes, ecus and mounting methods would be good to accompany the engine suggestions.
Still, if those are not needed, then the obvious choice is the W12 from the Bentley Continental.

I've all but given up on looking at engine and gearbox combos ,I'm looking at going very light weight with a 24 speed shimarno set up chain driven to the sierra back diff. This is after watching Bugsy malone again. :D
Yes I know this will be silly on the A13 but think of the congestion charge!

well you could weld a sprocket ring to the crown wheel and then run a chain up inside where the prop would go fit all your gearing in there if you want to go 24 speed (shimano is good i hear)
im just not sure where you would fit the brake peddel and would you be going for one crank or two?

How about a Nissan engine? The old scimitars with the 135bhp engine used to shift, with a 200sx engine, gearbox etc a roadster would be great!
