afternoon all.
Problem.
some bright spark rubbed off the markings i made from my flywheel to engine, and I now have a possible of 6 ways that it can bolt back up to then engine?
Its a 1.8 blacktop and standard flywheel?
Has anyone got any bright ideas?

Does the zetec blacktop have the Crank position pickup wheel on the fly?
If so, get cylinder 1 at TDC and then the -1 on the trigger lined up with where the sensor would be.
If not, fit it any way and forget about it, your very very unlikly to notice any difference at all.

Worth checking and I stand to be corrected but with the Megajolt the missing tooth is 90 degs before top dead center

iirc one of the bolt holes is slightly off set so it will only fit one way.

Not tried it on a Zetec, but that is indeed the usual way.

Not so on pinto, cvh, cologns , dohc's that I have worked on. And the CVH fly is used on the zetec conversion.

The DOHC, CVH and ZETEC flywheels I have all have an offset hole so there MUSt be an offset hole in the crank.
You usually find this out when you've toqued up five of the bolts and the last one won't go in DOH!
Try fitting the flywheel and nipping upo the bolts.
I will check later on my old TIS to see if the official manual can Identify a mark or reference.

No Mention of it in TIS, just undo and do up 6 bolts.

Holes are definately offset - the flywheel will only go on one way.

Yep, as said there is only one way it fits.
Holes are offset to ensure the timing of the 36 -1 is always correct.

Which version of TIS? Mine has note about aligning flywheel to crank on escort zetec manual as does the '543 for the DOHC...

almost all engines have only one postion of fitting the crank/flywheel as how else couuld it be fitted central and in ballance to the crank!
