Hi Guys,

I'm just in the process of looking for a new welder before purchasing a chassis pack from Handyandy.

My current one is 90amp and getting on a bit now.

Looking through ebay i found this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEALEY-MIGHTYMIG150-GAS-GASLESS-150AMP-MIG-WELDER-/150447866651?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item230764431b#ht_2342wt_911

Which looks pretty good.

My budgets around £250, needs to gas and atleast 150amp.

Do you think it best to go for aomething like the above or maybe a second hand one slightly higher spec?

Thanks

Chris

I'd say keep your money in your pocket and keep an eye out for a second hand higher spec MIG. From what I can see the power setting is just high and low which is not ideal. Avoid SIP and cheap chinese MIG's the wire feed motors are crap, are very jerky and produce lumpy welds at low amps. Go for some thing of about 180amp plus if you can a 150amp MIG will be pushing it for proper penetraition if you don't prep the tubes and thicker plates/sheet steel properly.
