VOSA will require the chassis number to be stamped onto the chassis somewhere easily accesable such as underbonnet area - I think on the right hand side. You can have a 'VIN' style plate but you'll still be required to have the chassis number stamped to the chassis, which of course must be done prior to the IVA test.

so what you are saying is that i can use the plate but it also has to be stamped on the chassis?

Yes, you also need the manufacturers name on a plate ie you! and the date of build completion
