how to get hub nuts off

hi guys, just started dtripping my axle, im having problems with the hub bearing nuts. Ive cut the collar off and meted away the plasticy stuff but the nut wont budge no matter how much heat and sweat i put into it.
Has anyone got any tips?

You don't need the hub nuts off if you've got rear drums.

They are done up RFT.

You than put a length of smaller section box, or a bar through the short bit there, stand on it and then you can undo them no problem. Its like that so's you can swap it over to help tighten and also to undo the opposite side.

I've just got the back end home and didn't have a chance to loosen the back nuts. Done it tonight with a 3/4 drive socket,large toggle bar and a large hammer. Just stood on the drum and kept shocking the toggle bar with the hammer. Just took a couple of minutes. The n/s nut (LH) is left hand thread.

I clamped my drive shafts in the vice and applied the windy gun, came off no bother

Went to machine mart, bought impact gun, no joy. Put a bar accross the studs and got all three neighbours to stand on the subframe while i forced on a 12ft piece of scaffolding pipe attached to the wrench and all i did was lift everyone off the ground. I really dont know what to try next.

David, you said that i dont need to remove the hub nuts? dont i need to remove the hub to get the driveshafts into the rear hub carriers? Either way i would like to remove them just to put new bearings in.

Does anyone have any further suggestions? im getting pretty tempted to start the grinder up or try and find an industrial nut splitter.....

The hub carriers have 4 bolts that come out with the driveshafts (as you'll know lol). The full driveshaft can be slid through the back plate of the drum then into the diff, then the 4 bolts just tighten onto the roadster's uprights.

Once they're on the car, the hub nuts will be much easier to loosen. ;)

Do what I said. When u stand on the length all the torque goes to the nut.

I've used that disc with the box welded on with stub shafts not attached to anything, drive shafts, the car etc.

It works correctly!

only problem is i have drums, do you think it would be posible to do it by bolting the box section onto the wheel studs? im not bothered about them bending or snapping cos thier relatively easiy to get out.

does not matter that they are drums just put the disk on like a wheel.

phew, thanks for the help guys and the kind offer. I was beginning to have a nervous breakdown, dont ever want to have to do that again! that was some serious torque, iv bent a piece of scaffold bar getting those blighters off!
