hellooooooo
just a small problem with my mk2 steering rack
i know this is silly but
steering rack on ok
steering shaft on ok
steering wheel on ok
turn steering wheel to the left yes your correct the wheels go right
turn steering wheel to the right yes wheels go to the left

what the .... have i done wrong or should i learn to drive this way:D :D

Are you sure it is a MK2 Escort rack?
Did you buy it new or second hand.

The below picture shows mine fitted to chassis. Does yours look similar?

Would a flipped LHD rack cause this?

YES it does bought it new the model no on it i eos 108

As mine is fitted the drop link from the upper steering column connects to the steering rack input which is below the main shaft of the rack. Is yours above or below the main shaft?

above so as the steering column shaft will come straight into it

That's the problem. The connection from the drop link when the rack is fitted should be below the steering rack main shaft, ie nearer the ground. It sounds like you might have a left hand drive rack which would cause this problem. Have you got a picture we could look at of it? Where did you get the rack from?

a to z of rotherham is where i bought it but you are correct it should be at the bottom

Has anybody actual checked the IVA manual to see if turning clockwise is required to make the car go right.. Would be fun to watch the IVA man try and fail the car when there is no section in the manual.

I had the same problem but i ve realised rigt away what was the couse. you need a right hand drive one.
