I am doing the remedial work on my eldest's van.

One of the bits of welding on the VT30, simply states ... Offside seat belt achorage prescribed area is excessively corroded.

Thinking that this meant the inner sill/door pillar .... Removed the seat & hoiked up the carpet .... Seatbelt mounting solid as a rock

Looking under the van, there is a small hole in the inner sill edge & a small hole in the rear floor pan .... Both are in a reasonably close proximity to the seat belt anchor ( ish )

Looking about .... I could really go to town but don't want to do more than I have too

To save me searching the net, what distance is the prescribed area Paul :)

12ins english 30cm metric, most prescibed area's overlap so a pain in the rear, also states repairs should be fully welded Ronnie.

Got the tig sort of sorted.

You know as well as I there is a difference between rust and corrosion and sadly some cannot distinguish the two,"excessive rust" is not an RFR/VT30.

Thank's Paul :)

I guess those area's spotted are within that distance, the hole in the floor pan certainly is.

Age must be taking its toll, couldn't remember if it was 6" or 12" :o

The tester is quite a cool dude & very realistic when it comes to elderly vehicles .... More or less, takes the same line on corrosion as my local VOSA station.

If I were testing it, it would be in a nice square bale & on it's way to China !!?? :D

Nice to hear that you are now sorted, won't be any stopping you now :)

Ps

Unforunately I didn't present the van for the test, I usually get them to show me any corrosion .

Thank's Paul

Just didn't want to spend a mountain of time straying into the advisory teritory :D :D

It's a 1995 Escort van & a Cornish one to boot ..... Need I say more  :D
