Engine wiring loom: where to buy?

Hi,
It's been almost a week now I'm trying to find a wiring loom.
I still haven't make my mind on which one of my two engines I want to use in the Roadster, but I want to have all the data's between my hands to make my decision. If I chose to use my SOHC (Pinto 2.0 EFI), I will need a complete engine wiring loom (I bought the engine separately from my donor). I've been looking for one, new or used, as much as I could on the net (Sweden, France, UK) but no luck so far.
Do you guys know where I should look? I know there is "Premier Looms" in the UK, but they don't look to have a lot of activity, and actually, their website is quite wired and not sure they are actually working. I can also buy a used one, but nothing on the bay. There should be other places I haven't checked because I don't know them.
Any idea, advice, direction and so on is welcome.

I can recommend Premier Looms, they are now based in Spain, and I bought my loom from them in May, it is a very small business, I think it is just a husband and wife affair. But they make very good products and they were very happy to answer all of my questions and the loom arrived when they said it would.

Send them an email and see what they say.

I doubt they would build an engine loom as the plugs are almost impossible to buy.

EFi pinto stuff is very sought after.

AFAIU custom looms usually come without the connectors, you have to wire up your own.

Simon, I contacted Premier looms them between xmas and new year, and no reply so far. May be they are on holidays... we'll see.
TT, one more time you confirm the suspicions I had... I think it is going to be difficult.
Al, this is an interesting information. What is the point to have a loom done if there is no connectors? Simon, do you confirm the loom you got from Premier was without connectors?

Ah, sorry, I thought you were speaking of a custom body loom. I doubt anyone would be able to build you a custom engine loom without a donor loom for plugs. Did you investigate the possibility to get an original one from Ford?

The loom came without connectors, you need to make them yourself, however they do come with relay holders and fuses boxes in place, also as every cable is a different colour it makes fault finding so much easier.

I'm thinking more and more about using the DOHC from the donor in the roadster. I really wanted the Pinto EFI, but it looks like it will be only troubles to try to connect and use it.

It's the ford specific connectors that snookers everyone.

You can get a few in the states but some bit's are just not available.

Regarding the loom, yes, they have universal looms, but I guess I will have the same problem with the connector.

The price is about 200€, and even though it is a big expense for the car, I could have think about it seriously if I was sure the loom would be "plug and play". But if I have to struggle with the connectors as TT seems to confirm on top of this expense, I don't think it is worth it...

Ask arround Ebay sellers who are breaking Sierras and you will soon find someone willing to sell you the plugs with a few inches of cable. Understandably very few breakers are interested in selling a complete loom due to the time it can take to remove so most are happy to just cut bits off for a couple of quid as its something that would otherwise be crushed with the remainder of the shell.
Solder your connections and use proper heath shrink tubing over your joins and you can make a perfectly tidy job of joining donor car connectors into any loom whether it be Premier, Vicki Green or self made.

Because Ford changed the wiring on the Sierra stalks mid production (and I inevitably ended up with a mixture of early and late parts) I found it worthwhile to sit down with a continuity tester to check the funtion of each wire. I then made myself a 2 column list of what colour wires needed to be joined to which part of the car loom and what relays were needed. The cabling up then took no time at all and worked first time.

If your happy building a loom just sort a list out of the plugs you need and put up a wanted.

The last pinto I touched was in a cortina. Ive had 12 sierras and none where pinto's.
Zetec's are more my thing.

I would still think the plugs are used between models of that year.

Thank you very much for the last comments and last tips.
I actually think I will use the DOHC from the donor as I have the complete loom, instruments and so on. I will just need to have the flywheel machined to fit the Type 9 gear box, as well as having the sump welded by a professional who can TIG weld after I shorten it.
Anyway, if I change my mind again, the tips you lately gave me to solve my SOHC loom problem are very useful and I'll definitely go this route.

Ford Parts of Dunston Tyne and Wear have some Sierra's in but not sure what is left on them.
