Its all a bit late! I have been using the forum for advice and tips over the last year, ( thanks to all the regulars for posting!) And have finally decided to post! My build is at the rolling stage. I have been given a rebuilt 1600 crossflow ( good mate!) +90 pistons, stage 3 head, double valve springs, duplex timing chain.
My dilemma is should I use it, locost mantra free is good! Or shoukd I buy a 1.8 zetec?

A 1700 xflow would be great in a roadster and the sound of throaty a xflow is great, easy to plumb, its pretty much what was used in the original Lotus 7. And its Free!
I had one in my Jester 12 years ago. It had a stage 2 head job, BCF2 cam and I was running GS550 bike carbs on it. It would wheel spin in the first 3 gears so had plenty of power.

The crossflow will make your life much easier when it comes to IVA. You can always upgrade later if you feel the need.

Just think about the wiring. A crossflow has maybe 6 wires to hook up. All the fuel injected motors have zillions! I am using a crossflow. I am too old to learn all about injection systems.
