Would the ford granada offer the same potential for / parts for a kit car as a sierra?

Basically yes.
The diff is the same, the hubs (front and back) are similar but with 5 studs instead of four (except scorpio's which have 4 stud hubs and larger bearings), MT75 or type 9 gearboxes and DOHC or V6 engines which fit very nicely.
All in all a little modification is required but nothing too hard.

hey chris, are there any other differences? there seems to be a fair amount scorpios and may be able to get hold of one locally for the right price...

the steering column is different too
the granada brakes use the same calipers as the sierra's with ABS
if you don't want to modify the geometry to suit the granada front hubs you've still got a couple of options:
you can convert the granada rear hubs to 4 stud just by swapping the flanges for sierra ones - and use sierra front hubs to match
or you can convert sierra front hubs to 5 stud by machining the granada hubs down to fit the sierra bearings and seals (they arn't even hardened - cost me £10 the pair), then you just need some 5mm spacers and longer bolts for the calipers so that you can use the granada discs
these are my 5 stud sierra hubs :D

the scorpio is a reasonable doner vehicle, i am using a cosworth version with the 4 stud hubs.
The hubs are just a bit bigger and you need to get the mushroom adaptors made as there bigger.
the one good point i found is that you don't need to modify the bottom ball joint for the maxi one as its to small, the 306 ball joint is a perfect fit and just bolt it to the bottom arm. I've got the part number if anyone's interested.
Have a look at my pics if your interested.
