Hi everyone, I really wanna learn how to build my own roadster but have no experience what so ever, so i was hoping i if i could help someone to build theirs that way i can learn some if not all the aspects of the build. Obviously i would do this for nothing as it would be you doing me the favour. So if there is anyone out there around the northamptonshire area who would like any help what so ever in their build i would be most grateful if i could help in any way, im a quick learner and just basically wanna have the chance to get into the build of these cars, hope someone can help cheers Rich...

Hi rich, welcome to the forum
to be honest if you know one end of a spanner from another and can use basic power tools your half way there. Everyone on the forum would be able to offer advice if ever you got stuck. The answer really is just to give it a go and take your time. If you are worried about welding there is plenty of places you can go to get pre-fabricated parts. when it come to stripping the donor car again you can do as much or as little as you want. general message is to take your time and do your research. There is plenty of support on offer on the forum. You need to take the first step and decide for definate you want to do this, next decide where you are going to keep it during the build; finally just take the plunge, you will have to make decisions along the way but there is planty of support on the forum just ask!

i would just go for it mate.

handy andy doesn't know what a spanner looks like but he manages to make cars for a living now :D (only kidding andy)

the basic requirements for building one is being able to read, measure, basic maths, cut metal and weld.

the hard bit is getting all the parts

:o as has been said.... just go for it.

i went to college for a few months earlier this year to learn to weld, even tho AshG says about spanners,,,,,,, i had my chassis rolling with steering & suspension fitted within 11 weeks of the first cut of steel :p

go for it & if you get stuck then the forum will help with any parts of the build process.
enjoy your build.

When i started my build i didnt know anything about cars, i had a little experience making other random stuff. I had no experience of MIG welding, but i picked it up pretty quickly. You say you learn quick, so just go straight into it, thats wat i did.

The other week i started stripping down my engine, i honestly didnt have a clue what i was doing, as you'll be able to tell if you read through my thread. But now i know what things are what and what needs replacing or doing to my engine. But thats only due to the people on here and just diving straight into it.

It doesn't cost a great deal for the steel, build table, ancillaries and mig (can always sell it after), so just dive into it and see how it turns out. You don't know until you try, its easier than you think...Make sure you get the welding right, sometimes the welds can look good but with no penetration.....Oer misses....;)
