I hope this doesn't cause too much friction but what Kit car magazine would you recommend for a newbie.
I have looked on the web but its all the glossy bits and advertising.
Which one really helps with the build and general interest?

Complete Kit Car got me into building and it also has one of the forum members (AshG) showing his build in there over the six months or so.

When you take out all of the company adverts and the classifieds there's not much in it to be honest. There's nothing in them that you can't get free on any forum such as this. I have a few kit car mags kicking around for referance to parts suppliers and a few I get for free by taking out ads in I guess it all depends on whether you want to read from a screan or flick through a mag. Thing to remember is kitcars are all bolt on and we're more scratch builders, just my 2p worth.

I don't buy Complete Kitcar as a replacement for the owners club or internet forums, its foolish to think the vastness of the internet could be condensed into a magazine.
But they do offer something to read away from the PC, in the workshop and help keep me motivated. Plus they act as a good reference. High quality photographs of a kit car build are always useful to look at to see how someone else has gone about fitting / modifying something. I too enjoy reading about AshG's car but you also get a wider view of the industry, where as the internet seems to be full of very vocal minorities with regards engines and style.

Had a look at the Complete Kitcar website.
Very nice preview section, I think I will buy just to look at the AshG project.
I also like the fact that it lists the possible parts needed later, at least then a choice can be made between making or purchasing.
Thanks guys, again you have come to my help.:)

With Complete Kitcars' support for Saturn and also Total Kitcar doing a similar item next month i certainly wouldn't comment on which publication is the best, however it is good to have something to read other than the internet and to be given a good overview of the industry.
As the Haynes Roadster and subsequently the Single Seater is gaining more and more followers in the kit car market both magazines will certainly become more involved with the Haynes brand. I think Forum users will probably know all there is to know anyway about the roadster as a build.
If we all support at least one mag then maybe we can get it onto more than just the shelves of WHSmiths and get more people into the market.
Have fun anyway.....AndyH

if your building or thinking about building a haynes roadster then ckc has to be the mag of choice. what other mag has given our beloved roadster so much attention?
i must admit before i wrote for them i only used to buy it now and then and only really skimmed most of the content. since writing for them and getting to know the people involved i have read it from cover to cover every month and to be quite honest there are some bloody good articles in there.
at a minimum i would at least recommend buying the back copies that feature my build and the Saturn articles. i personally think i have dished out some good tips in the mag which can be quite hard to search for on the forum especially all the picts of the early stages of my build that got lost in the forum melt down.
yes i know i am biased but i really do feel that CKC are 100% supporting all of us roadster folk.

I've always bought CKC - I just prefer the style of it and, as Ash say, there's been lots of Roadster content recently.
Occasionally I pick up Total Kitcar and Kitcar Magazine but I don't know if it's just me, but I think the latter seems to repeat articles too often.
