have you worked out a way to use a co2 fire extinguisher for welding gas?

that wasnst my plan but theoretacly that would be very easy
just remove the horn, fit a pub gas regulator. turn the bottle upside down so the siphon tube is the highest point not the lowest this way you get gas rarther than liquid co2 then use the trigger as the on of valve and just cable tie it open..
havnt tryed it but dont see why you couldnt, though its just cheeper to go down the pub and borrow a co2 bottle and take it back when its empty and get them to get you a nother one, no rental fees required

sounds a little dodgey to me as you say the bottle has a syphon tube in it to draw the liquid co2 out
i have herd of people doing this and iceing the reg stoping it work
some of the guys i used to visit when i was working as a welding rep used co2 heaters on std cylenders as even the gas would ice the reg when welding heavy plate
andy try poping into kennys autosave on marshbarton as only yesterday i was in there and thay do 1kg sealey co2 refillable (takes mini reg) and 2.5kg it was refillable cylenders as well as the chuck away ones
thay both where pay up front for the first cyl then refund on return or refill
about £60 for the first cyl then £11 for a refill you get your 60 back when your done with the cyl :)
thats the best i can find so far in exeter
