Just thought i would share some pics of this mornings work. After being out of the shop since Christmas due to it being so cold i decided to make a wood burner this morning to try and add some heat to the place. Pretty simple really. cut two vertical slits for each door and welded hinges over the slits. joined them together horizontally top and bottom and opened the doors. chopped the handle of the top of the gas bottle and replaced with a small flue. filled with wood and petrol and whoosh. burned paint of and will install with flue threw roof tomorrow.

well worth it.

Looks like you may need to fit a chimny baffle, top the flames shooting up it
Good idea though..

Did you have fun cutting in to the bottle? I've been told to be very carefull when cutting in to gas bottles, as the gas or compressed liquid impregnates in to the metal which still remains even after a few years empty.

make sure you fit an air vent in the workshop or you will give yourself monoxide poisoning

shop has plenty of "air holes" or shall we say just holes. baffles went in flue this morning and all in garage now. as for cutting into it. i filled it with water first and cut into it full. got wet when burst threw but better than blowing myself up. has been open for 12 months. not the plan just tardy.

ow and thanks.

as for the headline. seen that before. my parents house burnt dawn when i was 18 and my flat went up in smoke 2 year ago. suppose i am pushing my luck but non of the fires were my fault.

no i did not burn ether properties dawn. first wos my sister with a candle and second was an electrical fault as we slept. hero in the making. lol. i carried my nan out of the first fire and awoke our upstairs naibers in the second by kicking there frunt door dawn. but know. i understand fire is danger and have two fire extinguishers in the shop already. all should be fine. everything is done belt and braces with air gaps between the flue and everything it passes through. all so clad the holes with ally to prevent heat transfer. thanks for the consurne.
