Having a thicko moment....one too many glasses of vino colapso:eek:

Flexi fibreglass tent pole 4.5 mtrs long.
If you bend it into a half circle, how high will it be in the middle?

I know it's half the diameter of a 9 mtr circumference (Prob spelt wrong)
I'm coming out with 2.25, but it dont seem right somehow...

Don't talk to me about bad weather...
Only got here yesterday morning, no probs.
Smashing day yesterday, warm and sunny.
Last night it blew a bl***Y hooooooly.
Lost about 6 trees, and quite a few roof tiles
The tarp covering all my spares buggered off into the next village.
So spent most of the day sodding about with that lot.

So sitting here thinking about my summer hol's
And having a glass or 3....

Thinking about how HOT it was last summer,
decided I need some sort of sun canopy for this year.

That's a real bummer mate ..... Thought I was the only one that copped for that sort of thing :(

Let's raise a glass or Two to a nice long, warm summer ahead for us all :) :)

Surely we got to be due one

Just drawn it out in autocad - 1.43m = arc length of 4.492m
so yeh you wuz miles out:D :D

Dogwood,

yes you're correct it's the radius. You carry on drinking and we'll do the arithmetic. For a circle:

circum = pi * d

or:

circum / (2 * pi) = r

so:

9m / (2 * 3.14 ) = 1.43m

Blimey, remembering my O-level maths, now that was a long time ago

Hope that helps,

eSteve

Just a tad yea....

Ok then (Graph paper at the ready Ronnie)
Ho long does the pole have to be to make it 2.25 high?

Get another bit of pole out Andy.....

BTW, No idea what you just said Steve. :o

I am with HandyAndy on this one ..... All of that maths has just blown the head gasket in me brain  :D

Me ?? .... Still looking for the A3 Graph paper :o

That's OK,

it's much more fun bending metal (Andy), drawing it in Autocad (Big Verne), or drawing it on graph paper (Ronnie), than pressing some buttons on my calculator.:D
