bought this 2day, need sum help

as above bought this 2day, really happy with it. just a couple of things really:
1) when i get my sierra diff and drive shafts will they bolt straight in (no cutting etc)
2)also what chassis is it as im confused because you can get, +2/+4 etc whats mine
3) what steering rack does it take ?

Haynes roadster chassis's only come in one size, so you have no issues there.

The diff and driveshafts will just bolt straight in, no need to cut anything.

It takes a ford escort mk2 steering rack i think, its been a while since ive looked for them.

As far as i,m aware, the chassis you have bought was made by a company called 3ge, They supply parts for the Haynes Roadster, are keen forum members & are a great bunch of guys,

The chassis i presume will be built to the "book spec", tho i think it has a different front suspension set up,
without seeing a pic of the chassis i can,t say for sure about the diff placement & again presume it was made to accept the MKII escort steering rack.

Might be worthwhile contacting John at 3ge, ( contact info in members list on here)
I,m sure he,ll be more than helpful to your questions.

Yessum that's the chassis the lads at 3ge made and we had at Exeter in 2008 it has inboard front suspension and adjustable rear wishbones for toe in and out. It was made to take the MT75 gearbox as at the time I had an XR4i intended to be the donor........but things change so I sold it to a lad in the Navy or RAF or whatever it was I can't remember.:confused:

3GE's welding is the muts nuts by the way.:cool:

yeh the lad i bought it off today was out the raf. can anyone confirm what steering rack it takes, because i dont want to be buying the wrong 1:eek:

Oh and uses a MK2 Escort rack and all the Sierra gubbins will fit at the rear but uprights are for disc brakes as my old XR had rear discs. Seat straps are spaced for.....yep you guessed it "Triton race seats".:D

yeh i will be buying some seats of you when i get that far, hopefully shouldnt take me long :) got my engine sat in me kitchen loll zx9r ready to go in.

Thats the one and why you are on this forum...:D I can't remember what length the shockers are ..guessing 13" open?

An excellent purchase there...Well Done.

The dampers are 13" open with a 1" top hat extension - springs 350lb front and either 200lb or 250lb rear, book says rear 200lb but i find 250lb on the rear makes the car more balanced.

if your fitting a bike engine you will only need 300lb springs max at the front.

after having my iva what i dont get is why we are fitting softer springs at the back? my car was slightly heavier at the back than it was at the front.

but surely the more weight the stiffer the spring needs to be :D

if i wanted soft suspension i would drive my tintop. that thing is smoother than smooth on a smooth thing.
