So about 2 weeks ago, the old dear across the ways came over and asked if I could cut a tree down for her.

I said OK lets have a look. Well this tree was only about 30ft from the house.
And about 400ft tall....OK I'm exaggerating.
(I've been told a million times not to exaggerate)
But bl***y tall all the same (An Aspen tree for those who know)

Anyway, I said it was beyond me, and think a pro was needed.

Well today a "Professional" turns up, in the ubiquitous little white van and a chainsaw.
Well he was up that tree like a monkey. Unfortunately all didn't go well for him.
He was swinging about trying to cut a branch just out of reach..
(You can see where this is going)
Well he fell......Only about 20 ft.....BUT....
The chainsaw followed him..
Hit him right in the face, luckily it wasn't running.
(Think it would have been a different outcome if it was.)
Still managed to cut him open like a Melon, from his ear to his chin.
You could see his teeth and jaw bone through the cut !!!!!!

Anyway the ambulance duly turned up and carted him away.
Just soooooo glad I didn't get talked into that job..

Health and safety.......Not here in France

On of the best ways to get at tree is with a tele-handler, and "the boy" in the bucket with a chain saw, the handler can be used to make sure limbs go in the right direction, so find a friendly farmer, and he should be well up to the job

Being no stranger to using MF chainsaws I know how lethal they have the potential to be !!??

Just as well you didn't have a crack at it David ;)

Personally I love felling big trees .... Being scared of heights, I never done any of that climbimg malarkey though :o

Yea I was well out of that job....

At least I got to practice my First Aid skills.

not nice bet hes going to have a nice scar as a reminder. every time i look at the water system on my car i look at the scar on my hand, fortunatly its starting to fade but, its still a reminder not to do silly things.

i was going to have a go at that big tree in my garden but thought it would be best to get a pro in. dont want it falling on the workshop :D
