Last weekend I took advantage of Ebays free motors listing day.

I put my now redundant 1987 Mk3 Transit tipper up for sale on a no reserve auction.

Me being a muppet, forgot to re-set the date stamp on my camera & due to me being an even bigger muppet, I have hundreds of images stored on my memory card :o

Took me forever and a day to pick the Transit images from the memory card & upload them to Ebay.

Shock horror .... I reviewed my listing and noticed that the images were date stamped Jan 2008

I immediately altered the descriptions first sentence.

In huge, Red, bold font, the first line of the desription now read " IMPORTANT NOTE !! The pictures were taken today Sunday 23/05/2010 .... Please ignore the incorrect date stamp on my images ( Sorry for any confusion ) "

This is a question I recieved from an Ebayer

" Hey Bonzo!,
Pictures of your truck seem to be over two years old!
Is there a chance to see up to date pics at all?.. " !!??

Do some peolple not bother to read the description & just look at the nice pictures

Anyhow, someone local came to view & made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Now sold & gone.

In its place, I have a nice shiney new set of Toyo tyres & all of my rear lighting.

Now looking for mirrors & will still have plenty of change left to pay for a new Prop once I know what length it is

The sale of the Transit came just at the right time .... To be honest, it was my little piggy bank anyways.

Ronnie,

Classic, The normal one I get, after saying, “NO buy it now I will let the auction run” the first question will be “will you take £xx to end the auction early.

People don’t read the add or don’t believe me.

I wish I had a little piggy bank.

Cheers Ginge

TBH I quite often ask the "how much o end early" question... sometimes the offer is enough.... Its naughty I know :o

Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.

To be honest .... I have sold hell of a lot of stuff for top dollar to local buyers !!

Not strictly in the true spirit of an auction I know but at the end of the day I usualy have a figure of what I want at the back of my mind ;)

The strangest thing happened once !!

I listed a vintage Olympus OM2n Black body SLR Camera a while back ( Ultra Mint condition )

99p Start price to avoid costly listing fees ( Knowing it would sell well )

A buyer asked for a buy it now price.
I had a look at the camera price guide, in mint condition it was listed at £240 ( Retail )

I got back to the buyer & said £200 .... He declined

At the close of the auction, the camera sold for £370 .... You gessed it .... It sold to the buyer that turnded down the chance to own it for £200  :D

I know what you mean mate.

Forever being asked things that are clearly stated in the detailed description.

Very hard to remain polite at times

Ronnie,

I am afraid I get right sarcastic, eg

Me “cash or paypal only NO cheques”

Them “Will you take a cheque mate”

Me “you know what, I’ll write no cheques in the add then decide to take one, what do you think, READ THE ADD”

Nicky is always telling me off.

A few years ago I sold a P reg 2.0 litre diesel rover 420 with a quarter million miles on it via the bay. As I didn't expect it to fetch a huge sum of money I wrote into the ad "no buy it now, I will let the auction run its course so please don't ask how much to end early". Day 1 I get a message "how much to end early" so I said £3500, he came back saying that was way too much and the car wasn't worth more than £300, I ignored him from there on. Car went for £370................to the same guy who said it wasn't worth more than £300:confused:

E-Bay can have its moments, i used to play a fair bit of electric guitar and used to buy some really nice guitars on a whim. Then after a few months put them up for auction and get nearly as much, couple of times more, than i paid for them. Off to shop to buy another - good lady used to go mad.....:)

Not all good though, just bought 5 sets of sierra steering bushes and only received 1 to date and seller wont respond. Gonna send a report this morning and see what happens.

A Few messages that I've had from people regarding chassis....

Q:I ave a XR2i will it fit this chassy? A: Erm.....no

Q:I am building a mid engine RWD rally car with 300bhp engine in the back will your wishbones be suitable? A: I don't think that 2mm CDS will be strong enough these are for a 450-500kg sports car.

Q: Can I collect tomorrow I'm coming from Glasgow so can I have it for £250 to cover my petrol? A: if you where coming from spain would you want me to pay you £150 to take it?

Q:Whats the next thing that will need doing to this chassis? A: Realy?? If you don't know what needs doing you realy should'nt be building a CAR! (did'nt say this but thought it!)

Q: How much power will this chassis take? I'm planning on using 1.8 MX5 with turbo 400bhp can you make it fit MX5 gear. A:yes it will take the power would you like a full rollcage and an airbag for it as well?

I now, ALWAYS ask if they have a buy-it-now, simply because i've seen ads with "No buy-it-now, auction will run til end", only for it to disappear after a couple of days. Because the seller has sold it!!

I have a few peeeps that ask for a buy it now, I agree the price and then alter the listing.

They then never bid. Very frustrating.
