Hi all,

looking at sourcing some donor parts for my build and came across this company

http://www.kitfit-parts.co.uk/sierrawebp1.htm

Has anybody used them? they seem very reasonably priced for there reconditioned items.

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

I notise theie prices are plus VAT, I wish firms would stop quoting prices plus vat, there's really no excuse for it in this day and age. I think ebay has stamped out a lot of that bullsh!t, time the rest of the industry followed suit

It's pointless anyway, they can hide the VAT up til the last moment, but in the end they have to confess and ask for another 17.5% on top of what they are already asking.

Yes they are plus VAT.

I thought it was quite reasonable being refurbished etc.

It can be done cheaper with a little shopping arround.

You could get the disks from a local factors for ~£25
Bearings half their price with shopping..

It's a question of if you want to do it on a budget or let somone else take the strain.

There's also the assumption that most builders will be starting with a donor car, and will have all that stuff already, so although it may well need refurbishing, it may not, especially if a car with an mot has been purchased, and that way they will qualify for an age related registration whereas buying a bunch of refurbished bits will result in a 'Q'

Not saying that Q is a bad thing, but many people see it as a drawback

I am not refurbishing anything that does not realy need it.

Most of my bits have been sourced individualy.

Engine from one source.
Gearbox from another.
Front Hubs another.
Rear hubs , shafts , diff and drums from another.

And various other bits from my stocks..

It probably would have been more cost efective to strip a doner but I already have 1 car ( Mondeo ) to stip and no time to do it.

Thanks for the input guys.

I have a trade card for halfrauds and im on trade discount at my local factors so things like disks, bearings etc will come from there, i just thought for the bigger stuff it would be useful.
