I have just realised that the diff from my donor is a 7.5" one and i've built the chassis to accomadate a 7" one grrrrr

I have painted the chassis now so cutting the plates out and rewelding them further apart isn't really an option.

My question is can you get a smaller diff with the bolt on shafts, or can you fit the blot on shafts to a smaller diff?

My diff is 7" (Cossie 4x4 LSD), and has bolt on shafts.

Just cut down the mounting lug at the top, or make the diff mount bracket wider at the top.

Will that keep it central TT?
I hadn't thought of that!!!!! :D

Get it central and modify the diff mount bracket to fit. It's been done both ways on sierras with 7" Beams.

A bit of info (I think) the casting mark that runs along the top of the diff is central to the center of the pinion nut and lines up with center mark I put on the chasssis tubes.

Hope this makes a little sense.

Why isn't it an option? Do you not have any of the paint left over? I weld stuff onto painted chassis wherenever I need to, it isn't a problem, just clean off the paint in the affected area, and repaint when you are finished.

It is just far too much hassle to cut out the brackets and reweld, i'd rather just take the easiest option :)
