Long story up to now but in June I orderd a number of new lines for our new building. about 8 weeks ago when they were due to be installed the surveyed the new site, and levied excess charges. ( should be just about installed at that point )
Then I get some more excess charges to sign off (~£6k each time) , turns out they surveyed the wrong building. So revised charges duly signed..
Next they have to put in a new duct to the existing duct about 4 weeks ago, then they find the ducts under the road a re blocked ( about 2 week ago ) , then they find 7 more blockages this week ( now 8 weeks on from original install date ). So yesterday their plan was to use a temporary route which also had a blockage.
10AM today, our intersite links ( we have 3 sites in the city ) go down, and the fault is centered around part of the existing buildings on the new site. or more accurately ~283M away on the fibers from the building... Just about in the location where subcontractors are trying to clear a blockage in a duct for the installation of some new phone lines.
So whilst attempting to force out a blockage they wiped out 2 very expensive leased circuits killing connectivity between our three sites.
Openreach did work on until nearly 8PM to resolve it, and then all my emails started flooding my blackberry as the links came back up...
Perhaps, now, they will be able to finalise all the work and I can forget about phones for a few months!!!
Rant over.
