I hope nobody minds me posting this ( apologies if you do ).

Not wishing to take away from Fabby,s donations from his T shirt sales,

But

My 13 yr old step son is doing a sponsored walk on saturday , 18th December 2010 in aid of "Help for Heroes",
the walk has been organised by the sunday league football club he plays for & ALL proceeds will be going to the Help the Heroes charity,
He,s walking 25 miles from Stockton on Tees to the Stadium of light football stadium ( Sunderlands ground).

He,s passionate about the walk as his dad is a serving soldier currently in the Helman District of Afganistan, my wife is doing the walk with him & taking one of our dogs who,ll be wearing a camoflage doggy jacket with Help for Heroes printed on it.

Asked politely & knowing that money is tight at this time of year, if anyone wishes to sponsor our lad & his mum then your donation would be greatly appreciated & I,m sure you,ll all agree it,ll be going to a very worthy cause indeed.

cheers & thanks

Saturday the 18th is the date of my annual works Christmas pissup. In previous years we have done pub crawls round our local small town and Ironbridge, best one covered over six miles and twenty pubs:eek: . This year we're going to Bridgnorth to visit a few pubs before settling in the White Lion to enjoy a local group called the Barrel o' Baddies "traditional Celtic Punk". I'll be thinking of your lad doing his walk while we're stumbling around Bridgnorth:D .

Dean

Hi Dean,
What I thought I,d do was to contact everyone that has sponsored Callum with my paypal address AFTER he has done the sponsored walk & that I receive written confirmation(on the day) by the football coach who has orginised the event to confirm he completed the task, this way , I feel it is fair to the sponsors (you guys) knowing that its all done correctly & that he actually completes the task.
I hope that is ok with everyone, as I wouldn,t be happy to receive sponsorship prior to the event incase he doesn,t complete the walk or if its cancelled etc ( due to weather/safety etc).

Once he completes the walk I,ll contact everyone with the info you require, & yes paypal would be great.

A little update............

The local Daily Evening newspaper has heard about the sponsored walk, they have contacted the Football Coach who has organised the event, and........

Thanks to the kind support of all the people who have sponsored Callum it has been noticed by the The Football Coach that Callum has raised the most sponsorship in his team, the coach has told the newspaper reporter this info & a reporter will be taking a "Team" photo of all doing the walk & will be interviewing Callum & putting the photo & a little bit about Callum in the saturday edition, they like the fact that Callum is...

The Team Captain
His dad is currently serving in Afganistan
He has raised the most sponsorship
He is a paperboy delivering the local paper.

So on behalf of the team doing the walk I,d like to say a BIG thanks to everyone that has sponsored Callum / Help For Heroes.

Thanks guys

Will try & post up a photo of the article from the local paper on saturday.

But sadly we,ve been informed today that for safety reasons due to the sudden weather change in the last 24hrs the Football Coach who has orginised the walk has decided to postpone the event till possibly sometime in January.
His concerns for safety of the young lads doing the walk is paramount, & I personally think this is the right decision due to the weather.

May I thank you all for sponsoring Callum & if all are happy to do so would it be possible to continue with the already offers of sponsorship to when it will be rescheduled?

Adrian.....many many thanks, Callum reads this thread every day so I,ll make sure he receives your well done message.

OMG

I,ve never known Sue to be soooooooooooo quiet .......

&

Callum is asking if he CAN GO to bed instead of asking "can I stay up a bit longer"

&

Max ( our German Shepherd ).....well to be honest, he,s flopped on his bed & is "out for the count" ( he,s normally a dog that hardly ever stays still ).

Well, they did it.............not without the odd Hiccup.....They had to take a detour due to road building machinery & the area cordoned off for safety etc,

Which ended up making the 25 mile walk into a 29 mile walk

I,m really proud of them all for achieving their target, it was a team effort.
I think for a bunch of 14 yr old lads they,ve done a fantastic job today , tho I,m sure a few of em will miss footy training tomorrow morning  :D

Thanks to all on the forum for supporting the walk, all proceeds going to the

HELP FOR HEROES.
