I don't know why you'd want to double skin it, a bit of a waste me things. Nothing to stop you carpeting as is.

Yes, I have thought about double skinning my floor with thin aly sheet and filling the gap with Kingspan insulation to cut down on road debris noise.

You wont hear any road noise coming from the floor of the car!
Just the rush of wind in your face and the sound of the engine :)
Oh, and the screams of the passenger as you floor it through the bends :D

iv got some thick expanded rubber foam on the inside of the side pannel area to act as a bit of crash protection ( avin a laugh really but beter than nowt). Its the same stuff thats used on the walls inside horseboxes. Quite expensive but i pinched it off my missus.

That's exactly the same as what i'm doing, and the same reason why i'm doing it to cut down on the road noise and a nicer finish, i don't like seeing exposed chassis rail in the foot wells.

Why double skin then, why not just skin on top of the chassis rails? I know they are more exposed but I'd prefer that rather than creating a water trap.

If your double skinning the floor you'll have to redesign the pedal box as well.
