Hi guys,

Iv just pulled my dashboard from the mould iv been making, its cost probably twice what spud charges, and its nowhere near as nice, its also taken ages but i really wanted to have ago at making something myself. A bit of polishing and i reckon it wont look too bad, but im well chuffed. I think the mould needs a bit more work and then il have another go and see if i can make one with woven carbon cloth and epoxy resin

Bit of wet n dry and some compound and you are away or cover it in vinyl if you don't fancy trying to polish it up.

i have got the ckc workshop from stoneleigh done by john dickens on my video camera. its a whole hour on laying up carbon fibre.

if i can find a site that will let me upload a whole hour of video then i will as its quite interesting and i have permission from John to share it.

that would be great, i went to a seminar with john dickens at east coast fiberglass a month or so ago, he certainly inspires confidence.

As for how the mould was made, i just made the dash from some old wood, attached some old 2inch timber at the rear on the bottom and sanded the shape into it. I then used a load of bodyfiller to get it as smooth as i could, painted it, pva'd it and covered it in four layers of matting. Then used that as a mould to lay up the actual dash.

his book on fibreglass is really good too.

Interesting tips there though for folk wanting to have a go..:)

I take it Ash that demo was on at the show? Didn't know or would have gone to see that to get a fix of fumes..:)
