Hi guys, I recently took up motorbiking to make my commute into the city center from the countryside a bit quicker and cheaper. I went for a Yamaha YBR 125 Custom Cruiser and I'm trying to find a wind or fly shield for it. Yamaha themselves only seem to sell one for the YBR but not the YBR Custom. I came across these on fleabay http://stores.ebay.co.uk/bs-motoparts-international/Yamaha-/_i.html?_nkw=ybr+custom&LH_TitleDesc=1&_fsub=241938519&_sid=829136859 that look like they'd fit but I'm unsure what the difference in shape will make? Is anyone else here into biking and able to give me some advice on what shape is best? The bike seems to struggle at the moment in wind and over 45 mph and hoping the shield will help reduce this and get me over 50-60 mph without it feeling like I've got someone pushing me in the chest / head.

Wind in yer face is what bikes are all about though:D And a four stroke 125 custom will be painfully slow

I suspect your 125 will only do about 60mph flat out.
Here is a link for screens

Didnt think I'd ever get it going really fast, was hoping a fly screen would help cut down on wind resistance against my upper body.

Yes it will. You would be surprised how much difference even a small screen will make.

Cool, thought that would be the case. Hopefully it won't be as much of a struggle to get it up to 50mph! I've ended up going for one of these ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fly-screen-Puig-Windy-Honda-CG-125-Yamaha-YBR-125-smoke-/400224424962?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5d2f3c1402 ) as thought they won't spoil the look of the bike too much :) http://www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/uk/products/motorcycles/125cc/ybr125-custom.aspx?view=media

i used to own a ktm990 which had a flat screen which was just too short and used to cause servere high pressure buffeting around my head. Ktm wanted £150 for a taller screen, so i bought some flexible perspex instead, made a new one and riveted it on, cost about a tenner and looked just as good, it did scratch easily though.

Ya once I've passed my test and get a proper bike it shouldn't be as bad. Just wanted to be able to get 50-60mph out it if possible to make going on dual carriageways not quite as scary because I'm going too slow!

Enjoy cruising while you can.
Once you pass your test and get a 'proper' bike there wont be many times you will go UNDER 60mph-== (or so I'm told !):D :D

Well the screen turned up in today's post. Was a bit of a bugger to put on as it covered the top 1/4 of the headlight and of course yamaha made a well rubbish design on the light. The bolt that goes from the side goes into a dome nut that sits on the inside of the light. So considering the shield had to go on that bolt, it was virtually impossible to put the bolt / nut back on without taking the face of the light off. But then of course I couldn't the face of the light back on because of the shield lol. So ended up getting the welder out and welding the dome nuts onto the inside of light so I could put the light back together then put the shield on afterwards. :)
