View Full Version : Selling up...

Unfortunately the time has come for me to sell up my build. My wife and I have just bought our 1st house and I under estimated how quickly some of the work needed would have to be done. So for the forseeable future I can't see me getting any time to work on the car not to mention I need the money now to pay for the work the house needs.

The amount I've learned through the process has been phenomenal and I sincerely thank everyone who has helped me get this far. Hopefully in a few years I'll be able to try again and it'll be a bit easier next time round!

As I slowly work through all my bits that I think I can sell off to raise funds I'll post them into this thread 1st to let you guys have dibs before I try selling anything on ebay that no one here wants. I'm happy to post anything at the buyer's expense but obviously for some of the bigger/heavier items it would probly work out cheaper for the buyer to come collect (I live in Weston-Super-Mare). If someone was interested in buying the lot as an unfinished project, I'd take £2200. I may have forgotten something from the list below, if you want something that isn't listed PM me.

Donor Pack - £400
All of this came off my donor, it was a 1993 Ford Sierra 1.8 Cfi Azura which had 97k on the clock. I still have the V5 for it and it's currently declared as sorn with the DVLA. It was MOT'd the day before I drove it home. If no one wants the pack as a whole, I'll split the parts. It includes:

1.8 CVH Engine - I've put new alternator & belt, head gasket, thermostat, RS Turbo Exhaust Manifold, & clutch on it (hense me wanting £400 for the "pack"). The thermostat housing has also been relocated to the back of the head to accomidate a bike carb conversion. Because the engine has had the bike carb conversion, I would consider bundling all of the conversion parts listed below & megajolt for a "deal". Note that the sump has been chopped and a new sump gasket put on.
Type 9 gearbox
Front hubs with capilers & brake discs. I'm not sure if the discs are good enough to get through IVA, they may need replacing. The pads still look to have a good amount left on them.
Diff
Prop shafts (push in type)
Rear brake shoe assemblys and back plates
Steering column
Cluster (I have two of these as the original cluster had a clock instead of a rev counter, I then aquired another cluster to replace mine so I had a rev counter)
Loom (note that I have chopped/modified parts of the loom to remove redundant circuts and shorten wires that where too long)

Chassis
Pair of Differential Brackets (from Saturn Sports Cars) - £30
Headlight Brackets (from Saturn Sports Cars) - £25
Front Wing Stays (from Saturn Sports Cars) - £60

Steering
Escort Mark 2 Rack - £50
Track Rod Extensions (from Saturn Sports Cars) - £25
Alloy Rack Clamp (from Saturn Sports Cars) - £20
Sierra Track Rod Ends (from Saturn Sports Cars) - £15

Suspension
Protech Dampener & 250/350 lb springs - £325
Mushroom Insert (I have 2 sets of these as bought extra in error, they're made by talon) - £25 per pair
Full Wishbone Set (with crush tubes & bushes) and Drum Uprights Made by Talon - £275
Transit Drag Links (from Saturn Sports Cars) - £10
Maxi' bottom ball joint (from Saturn Sports Cars) - £15

Bike Carb Conversion
Kawasaki ZX6R Inlet Rubbers (set of 4) - £15
Kawasaki ZX6R fuel pump - £25
Kawasaki ZX6R Carbs with TPS - £50 ( I will also include the inlet manifold I made to suit these, it does need touching up to correct a small air leak on port 1)
Megajolt with serial connector (comes with a good 1.8CVH map already loaded) - £125

Coolant System
Rover 200 header tank - £15
Kit spares radiator - £50 (brand new but was "adjusted" slightly along the top so it would fit better under the nosecone) http://www.kitspares.co.uk/shop/item.php?cat=4&product=4746&catsub=0
Kit spares fan - £15 [http://www.kitspares.co.uk/shop/item.php?cat=4&product=4730&catsub=0]
I also have various silicone hose bends, T pieces, & metal connectors (I'll have to check how many etc)

Bodywork/Interior
Pre-cut Aluminium Transmission Tunnel Panels (From saturn sports cars) - £75
IVA friendly bonnet latches - £30 (http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/IVA_OK_Rubber_Bonnet_Catch_BNLCH)
GRP nosecone - £125 (cobalt blue, from saturn sports cars)
GRP bonnet with large scoop - £100 (Note there is a small crack at the front on one side, should be repairable. Cobalt blue, from saturn sports cars)
GRP front wings - £65 (cobalt blue, from saturn sports cars)
GRP rear wings - £125 (cobalt blue, from saturn sports cars)
GRP aero screen - £50 (black, from saturn sports cars)
GRP dash panel - £40 (black, from saturn sports cars)
I do also have a GRP rear tub in cobalt blue but the sections for the rear wheels have been cut out. If someone is interested in this let me know and I'm sure we can agree a fair price.

Odds n Ends
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY V8 ENGINE MOUNT RUBBERS - £3
Aero fuel cap with unleaded insert - £60 http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/82mm_Locking_Fuel_Cap_Assembly_Satin_AERO2
GSF1200 bandit exhaust silencer and link pipe - £30
Full brake kit (from saturn sports cars) - £100
Set of 4 alloy wheels (15") with locking nuts from a ford puma - £35 (Note these will require new rubber)

unfortunate fella.

My only advice after splitting my first build is keep your chassis somewhere. I got naff all for my first one then spend an age building number 2 always cursing selling the first one.

Might be interested in the megajolt and any photo's of the wheels?

That's a shame as you put in a lot of effort to get it up and running..

Good luck and see you back soon, we will all still be here, probably all plodding on towords IVA..

After a sleepless night it just breaks my heart to much to sell my car. I'm just going to have to raise funds for the house elsewhere and if it takes me 10 years to finish building the car then so be it. Thanks for all the kind words and to those who have shown interest in buying bits.

good on you fella,
If you get really tight you can sell a few bits and bobs to fund house stuff, but keep the core of the chassis suspension and running gear together,
