What kit magazine do you read,

I used to sub to CKC until I decided to cut back expenditure,

However we were away last week so I decided to get something to read, CKC was not in the local Smiths so I picked up Kit Car.

I was fairly dissapointed for my £4.50's worth.

The layout was rather haphazard, the number of articls a bit thin and dry.

I will give Total Kit a try next time.

Which one do you read?

I used to buy them but found the same thing in them month after month. They are also scared to comment on how shite some of the kits are in the reviews because they lose the adverts. A once a year purchase just to catch up with whats about or find a supplier of bits in my opinion.

I subscribe to CKC and enjoy reading about readers builds mainly. I must agree though and admit that sometimes its a bit bland and I just flick through it and dont bother reading it.

I used to subscribe to CKC for two years, but then let my subscription run out. I think supplier ads were the most useful part of the mag, "in-depth hard core tech" sections were too superficial and low on info. The "immaculate Cobra build" reviews get old after two or three of them... I think Ash's builds were best feature of the mag, but they're too few and too far in between.

I do take ckc. I like to look at the readers builds, see how much they havn't achieved and then i dont feel so bad

P.s. build held up due to holidays, build in norath wales, me in hampshire. Never mind soon afteri get home new base being poured for an extra workshop behind the garage.

Gave up on them along time ago, I use search engines to find manufacturers and club websites, the forums of which usually have much better build/rebuild threads and more honest opinions as well as real life info about what it takes to build and drive that particular car, and all for free.
Noticed recently you could spend the thick end of £15 each month and not end up with half as much info and a stack of mags taking up space. Would rather spend that money on the car or at least loose beer and fast women:D

I read CKC magazine. It all seems to be new stuff each month. Whenever I buy the other one (kit car) I cannot tell if I have already read it. There seems to be so much copied from previous issues. (including adverts with old prices on etc. They could make it a lot thinner and reduce the price. I also didn't like the way they used to constantly diss the other magazines - when "which kit magazine" was around. There is always a section called Fresh Ayre where he just lets his mouth go about random stuff) - that said I do get it occasionally. TCK - I normally look online every week. Not too interested in the magazine as there is no technical information . ie how to weld, how to rivet etc... Ocassionally info on dodgy music groups and guitars though.

My favourite is CKC - I drink out of my cup every day as well when i am working on my build!!

i generally choose the one with the best article at that particular time depending on what i am doing. I have CKC this month as it has a handy wiring diagram in for cut off switchs (as i was aware you have to be a bit careful wiring it in as you can damage compnents when you kill the battery) i did flick through TKC but found that 90% of it was adverts so left alone this month.

I have on rare occasions bought a kit car magazine, various flavours but all seemed to suffer the same limited content. If I buy a car mag now it generally tends to be Practical Performance Car but I probably only buy it twice a year or so. I buy this mag mainly for Dave Walker's articles although even they tend o be more a review of what he's had on the rollers giving thirty thousand BHP at twelve and a half million RPM but I also like the fact that they don't take themselves too seriously.

That's part of it where I was getting rather confused about what the mag was about, a rant about the economy etc....
