Hi all, I have a really stupid question, how do I reduce the file size of a jpeg image, I have images around 900KB and need to make them smaller to post on the forum in my build diary, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Easiest way is to upload them to photobucket then just copy and paste the links over. ;)

If you have XP use THIS (http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe) its from microsoft, once installed just right click resize.

If you have windows 7 you can use paint.

Not too sure on vista as I don't have it.

If not use Photobucket as that does it as well.

You can also email them to yourself then use the new image from the email.

Irfanview is free and works well for me.

I use a command line tool called mogrify for doing lots of images, or GIMP for single images.

But I am using Linux.. I should try it on my MAC and see what that can do.

Got it sorted, thanks. I used picasa which is free on google. You export it to a file on the desktop and hey presto it's done!

Easy, use Microsoft Office picture manager to open picture. On top of the menu bar there is a button labeled "edit pictures". Press this and on the right side of the screen another menu bar will open and under the heading "Change Picture Size" will be two options - re-size or compress picture.
Select the one you want and from there it is easy, just make your selection.

Ps. I use old 2003 version of MS office...newer model software may differ slightly in menus.
