I am just about to start making CP3/4. I take it that CP4 is a mirror of CP3? Can anyone confirm please.

Yes you are correct cp3 is a mirror of cp4. A little tip here use a marker pen and write top and bottom or right and left on them before you pick the welding torch up!

I'm working on these as well at the moment, good to know I did it right. So many of the parts in the book seem to need to be oppisite from each other but are labeled as such :S Drilling the holes in these is pretty hard, already snapped a few drill bits trying to make pilot holes...

If your having trouble drilling holes in steel heres a few tips. Use new drill bits for STEEL HSS, blunt or rusty bits may be ok for timber but steel needs to be cut in to. If you are using a variable speed pistol drill you need to run it slowly and this may sound silly but steel is hard and you need to push. If all else fails find a friendly person with a pillar drill.

Yup been using hss bits. The new ones I got to do the bigger final sized holes are fine, its the just the cheap ones that came with the drill for doing the initial holes that seem pretty rubbish. Off to b&q this morning to get some better ones and a blow torch to make bending the shock absorbers and back rails a bit easier :)

BB if you're getting new drills try a local hardware shop and get Cobalt drills with some cutting compound, CT-90. They are the dogs bo**oxs, probably will a little bit more then B&Q HSS drills but will last a lot longer. If the cutting oil starts smoking you are going too fast and not enough pressure, should see a constant flow of swarf from the drill, then ease of the pressure as the drill comes through the other side to stop it catching the edge, you will hear the tone change of the drill.

Sometimes Adli or Lidl have decent pillar drills in for £45.

All the Best....Andrew

Wish I'd seen your post Andrew before I went out! Ended up splashing out for the titanium ones which go through much easier to get my pilot hole up to size before doing the 9mm one. Making the brackets to go on the bottom is hard though, under estimated how difficult it would be bend it nicely. Think I'll buy the brackets pre-made ;)

Suspension brackets are so much easier to make if you've got a fly press. :D

Ya I bet! Bending the 1st side was easy, it was the second side that was a nightmare as couldn't bend it all the way flush on the vice because of the shape of the vice :S

Yep ....I had the same issue after that it was a no brainer....buy the plasma cut ready bent ones:cool:

Does anyone have a good picture of how these should fit to the top of sb2? I'm thinking if you're looking from the top at the one that will fit to the left hand side of the chassis, the suspension bracket should sit in the bottom right corner so to speak away from sb2 as opposed to it sitting very close / flush with sb2?
