Very strange.

I was going to put a post up earlier, I am considering getting my two boys ( one currently 6.5 and one 3.1 ) into Karting (I think the younger one will be more interested) and have so far worked out today that ?Cadet? Class starts at age 8 so a bit fo time to plan. And that's about as far as I have got. Our nearest club is about 25 miles away.

So....

Is the Kart a toy or are you into racing?

Hi Twinturbo, the kart is a toy, it is an old indoor kart I modified for my two boys to use. I used to race rotax seniors for 3 years. I gave up as it got a bit expensive and at my age I wasn't going to become a formula 1 driver...:D
The cheapest class I think from memory for youngsters starting is the Honda class. Sealed engines so it makes for exciting racing.
I bought an ex BT box from a transit and put it on a caravan chassis, that is now home for all our toys until the roadster is finished.
UK Karting website is a good place to get some good deals on used equipment for beginners. Good luck.

Nice Blog Shaun, they are always good to see - you've got enough room there. You can always, when its rolling, move your car onto the drive when you need room in the garage.

Just one little thing, in you blog it says you are using a 2l zetec on bike carbs just check the engine block age, if its not pre 1995 you will need a cat and fuel injection / management to get it through emissions. I've put a link to a table that give you the engine block age from the engine number cast on the block or it is the last 7 digits from your chassis number on the vin plate where the engine originated:

So from those dates I presume you did your Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve, day with the family on Christmas Day....then straight into the garage on Boxing Day eh? :D

Its nice to see someone with as little space as me:D

I tend to roll my chassis out the door and use whats left of my build table (just the top) as a nice flat work area on the floor. I know what you mean about keeping things tidy with so many tools to find!

nice blog . i did it the other way around i put a 1.6 vtec into a mini clubman it was very nice. and now im doing this ......... strange there must be a gene that makes us this way !!:D

Thanks for all the nice comments, makes me want to get it finished. Spud, the engine is a 93, I got it from a 93 Mondeo my mate was scrapping, thanks for the link it will come in handy in the future. Once I don't need the table I will dismantle it and I have made a frame at work( don't tell the boss!!) that has castors on it, so I can push it out of the garage and onto the drive when I need to. I should get my parts from 3GE tomorrow so I can carry on with the build. I have been cleaning the engine for the last 2 weeks. Just bought a suspension kit off the bay so will be making the jigs this week.
