Hope you don,t mind this.....

As you all know, our lad Callum did the "Help for Heroes" sponsored walk ( & his mum) last weekend......With great support from Forum members

Well , he,s been busy again today.......

Long story short....A few weeks ago he was selected by his school to compete in the Local Education Area ( schools within our district ) Cross Country competition......he ran well & qualified for the next round , against the best 16 from each district (4 districts), he then had to finish in the top 8 out of the 60 odd runners.....he finished 5th...........

So, today he was representing Cleveland in the area finals, again competing against all the other top qualifiers from the North East region, Yorkshire, Northumbria etc etc .....

Well, he finished 7th, & because of this he will now be representing the North East region in the National finals taking place in Nottingham next month

If he finishes in the Top 10 of the race at Nottingham he,ll then go on to run for England in the British Championship against Scotland , Wales & Ireland etc etc.

Today he was given a letter that he has to hand into his Head Teacher on monday, & the letter states that he is in the top 400 pupils of secondary school age in England for the Cross Country event.......

So, from a simple P.E. lesson when they were doing a cross country run, he,s ended up running not only for his county but now the Northern Region, & maybe England ( fingers crossed )

So as the saying goes " from a small acorn to a big tree" :)

Sorry for the waffle but as Callum was so pleased with the recent sponsored walk he wanted to tell you all his news from today.

ps....for training....I,ve told him to call me something he wouldn,t normally dare ........I,ll chase him, that,ll get him fitter :D

cheers
andy

That is terrific stuff Andy :)

Callum must be well pleased, I dare say you n Sue are very proud of him

Just thinking aloud here .... When you say that you are going to chase him .... Will you need to be riding a R1 to do it :D :D

Cheers Ronnie,

I think I,d need an R1 running nitros to keep up with him , I know for sure my old legs wouldn,t stand a chance  :D

Yes, Sue & I are very proud, ...tho, he,s now asking for a new pair of running spikes   ...I,ve got some 1 inch tacks in the shed LOL

I reckon give him your paypal details and tell him to buy something at full price, that'll get you chasing him. :)
Well done Callum, you're a credit to the youth of today who want to do well for themselves and aren't happy just sitting around with a finger up yer backside playing playstations and dossing about.
Shame a few more teenagers couldn't put their energy's into doing something useful.
I bet your mum and Andy are dead proud of ya, and so they should be.
Go get em.
