Is there any particular spec for iva about the angle of the rear stays on the roll bar? Mine are going to be quite a steep angle, due to the location of fuel tank, pump and filter.
Also does each side need 1 bolt or 2? Ive read both answers when searching, in theory i'd like 2 to be safe, but space is tight.
Hope someone can shed some light.
Cheers
Dave.

Dave,
I don't think that there is any specification for the roll bar back stays. I don't think you even need to have a roll bar for IVA.
Some people have passed with one fixing in the rear stays, others have failed. To be safe I have put two in mine. It is easier to do it now rather than later on when all the bodywork is done.
Cheers

If your seat belts mount to the roll bar it becomes a safety critical component. While there is no IVA requirement for a roll bar there are requirements concerning the strength of the belt mounts. It is all a bit vague as to what a tester will accept, there are quite a few pictures and words of guidance in the iva manual.
Hope that helps,
Enoch

As Enoch says once your seat belts are attached to it they pay it more attention at iva
I personally had my rear stays going to the rear lower corners either side of the tank with 1 fixing each side (although they were m14) my tester was quite happy with this

Thanks for the advice. I'll try my best to get 2 fixings in, nice to know the angle shouldn't cause too much of a problem.

I have been thinking about my roll bar and the mention that the harness brackets can fail sva due to their sharp edges.
Would it be ok to take the harness straps from the seat, over the roll bar cross member, then bolt them to the seat back panel behind the seats with some appropriate plates welded in and 7/16 nylocs.
Just an idea.

I would sooner see belts fixed to the chassis than a bolted on roll bar just in case it gets torn off in an accident.:(

Good point, if the roll bar got ripped off or shunted I suppose it would pull the seat belts really tight onto you.
But I'm guessing this would be the least of your problems.;)
How I proposed though the belts would still pass over the roll bar to get the correct shoulder height, therefore if it did get torn off the belts would get pulled to.
