I tell you what.............
Those damn finishing touches seem to take longer than it did getting the chassis to the rolling stage
Tho I must say the "to do list" is getting very very short now thankfully :)
I,m now at the stage where I,m going around my car "Looking" for things that need doing, & when I find something it seems to take ages to complete the task
Have others found that they ended up RE doing things that originally you thought were finished with? ....arrggh ...pulls yet more hair out :D .....I,ll be bald by the time Stoneleigh weekend :p
cheers
andy
Ps.. I also "Twotted" a finger today, oww the bloomin hurt ! lol

David...... Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo don,t say that :D I want to drive the Bloomin thing, not tinker with it , well, not until I "blow" the engine & need a new one ;)
Ash....... I,m pleased that I,m not the only one that goes thru this stage then ,
In the last few days I,ve fitted a new rad, repositioned my side indicators, put new rear lights on, put new gauge into the dash.....& the bug bear of a job......tidied up the wiring for what seems the umpteenth time ...aaarrrggh
And why is it when you hurt a finger ,,,its the one that gets used the most :D ......typing, phone digit, nose picking LOL ..only kidding on the last one, LOL
cheers

I know the feeling. I had aluminium brackets for my brake unions, these all had to come off (IVA feedvback from others) and steel ones welded on. The same with my roll bar needing extra bolts on the rear down stays. Going around the car looking for internal / external projections that need trimming or modifying all together. Its seems like such a thankless task that takes loads of time. Whats worse is after an evening with the car, its doesn't look any different!

Look on the bright side Andy
You may be going over & re doing some jobs that you were happy with at the time .... Could be worse !!
At least you are not re building the complete chassis :o :o
Yes I imagine all of the finishing bits n bobs are very time consuming.
Great to hear that you are almost crossing the finish line  :)

You,re right there Deezee, I spent a full day on it yesterday, drove it back into the garage, looked at it & thought..."what have I done today"...doesn,t look any different  :D
Cheers Ronnie, you,re right mate, just the last few bits n bobs etc, just at times it gets like the feeling that nothing seems to "get finished"
Peeps......don,t under estimate how much edge trim you,ll need, me being a tight sod, ordered what I thought would be enough.....I,ve just reordered double the amount I originally purchased
I,d like to say a big thanks to Jas & David ....
Jas gave me a great contact for the rear fog light situation, after a slight problem with them sending me an Old unmarked lense, I now have the correct fog light for IVA ( new "F" mark etc ) in the NAS style.
Davids money saving tip for mounting the fog / reverse light in the vertical plane on the rear tub has worked a treat, I,ll put up a pic later of the rear of the car .
Thanks guys
cheers

Handy I am at exactly the same stage as you, and falling into the same pitfalls.
I've been filling and sanding my enlarged nosecone for about 2 weeks now, doesn't seem to get any smoother, just makes the garage dustier.
Like you, my list is getting very small now.
And like you, I just found out that I'm about 14" short on edging trim, Grrrrr.

i think i used at least 10m of edge trim on mine. its funny though as it all seems to have fallen off over the last couple of thousand miles.

Fill the cylinder to the top and open the bleed nipples and let it drip out of the calipers, you may be suprised and get a good pedal. Works for me most times.
You can imagine how many brake pipes I do running an MOT station
Two set's today

Cheers Paul, I,ll give that a go,
I,ve only ever done the "pedal down, release the bleed nipple, nip it up again, release pedal" method before on cars :o
Soooooooooo much easier on bikes where I can reach the lever or the brake pedal whilst bleeding the caliper :D

A BIG thanks to forum member "Tex", who came over & helped me bleed my brakes today, got a nice pedal pressure , tho I think I,m going to install new brakes shoes in the drums before the test,
Took it for a little test run, and now have the front brakes locking up before the back, it felt GGGGGrreat to drive it again :D .
Cockpit is all finished & I think it looks really smart :p
Just the bonnet catches & some more edging trim to fit & make the tub lid & its done
Sorry if I,ve been quiet on the forum ( you all sigh .....enjoying the peace eh ), I,ve just been really busy finishing my car.
cheers
