zetec engine mounts

hi again

i've got a 2l silver top zetec to fit in my haynes and i was wondering what engine mounts people have used and has anyone got measurements of where to put them. the problem i have is the chassis is at work and the engine is at home and i dont know where it will sit.

Your a million times better offering the engine and gearbox up to the chassis. Your engine location is important, but your gearbox, bellhousing and clutch lever positioning is also super important. You may end up making a mount that you then have to move 20mm to clear something else.

could i weld plates from br1 to br8 (and otherside) like large triangles and mount from there????

I'm at the same stage as this and was wondering how far forward from tr8 the back of the engine should be alos the height between the bottom chasis rails and the centre of the crank most people have mounted their engines. I have the Engine in place at the moment but there quite a lot of room to position it.

you will be better off hanging the engine and box in the chassis [free dangle] to get the position right to clear all obstructions - then make your own mounts using 2" box tube with flat plate. use card to get the angles right

Hi guys, whilst reading this about positioning engine, I too have zetec lump, I never made a note when I removed it from donor, does this engine sit level because quite afew motors have small lean angles?
Anyone know anything.

I have just had a look at the Zetec engined Mk5 Escort sitting in my drive.

The engine looks to be more or less, dead level ( Upright ), if it has an incline it must be very slight ;)

I suspect the Mondeo would have a similar engine placement.

If you ever have any doubt over an engine that you think leans, check out the sump. All oil pans will sit horizontal. If the sump is horizontal, so is the engine.

I don't think this holds true to Zetec on Mondeo. The engine sits vertical or very hear vertical, but the bottom of the sump has a rather steep incline:

Curiously, Escort sumps have a flat bottom.

same with the fiesta zetec i have it has slight slant on the bottom of the sump

Have a look at Saturn website,if he has updated the G20 photos you will see how far back you can get the engine and I fitted the zetec the other weekend its better to trial fit it as the book placement of mounting plates will not fit properly,the engine mount on the o/s/f is close to the very edge of the plate,the stat housing is the problem and mine is a one off.
