Gents

I noticed that there is a calendar on the forum, I presume for any meets or events that are of interest. But unless I am missing something there does not appear to be any entries or way of entering details for 2011. Are there many meets/events for haynes roadste/locost builders in the year?

I read 'Kit Car' magazine and this gives details of some events but I cant help thinking there must be more going on. Just thought it would be good to start using the calendar so everyone can be aware of any meets/events. Would be good to meet people and have a look at some finished builds.

Leroy I think you are right, we could make better use of our calendar. Local meets would be great occasions throughout the year, maybe a Christmas party would be another idea.

We don't hold official meet's ourselves, but we do tend to get together (and camp togther as a group) at Stoneleigh.

There may be a couple of us at the CKC trackday at Llandow on May 14th. I'll definitely be there, AshG might be there, some others may also come along too.

Nice one Ash, that would be great! I guess people can then go ad put any stuff of interest on there aswell. I know if I ever finish my roadster  I will be keen to meet up for a Sunday afternoon blast and a bit of lunch somewhere.
Thanks Aerosam, I am interested in Stoneleigh. Might pop down for the day or stay over. If I stay over what is the campsite/atmosphere like? Am I best coming down with wife and child, or a couple of mates?

Not sure if the wife would be interested, but will give her the option if it is not too loud for the little one.

I would say that the atmosphere at Stoneleigh is quite suitable for the young uns.

Can't say I found the camping area particulary noisy.

The trick will be keeping the Mrs & young un from being bored ;)

Too right Les, this year our tower of plastic pint glasses MUST reach the ceiling.

Stoneleigh is a great atmosphere, we all camp together in one area and usually have a few bevvies in the evening. CKC put on a band in a hall with a bar on the Sunday night (I think) which is a great evening.

Just hope it's a bit warmer this year. Last year it was so cold that Mightymouth ended up sleeping in his car with the engine running all night, and AshG gave up completely and blagged himself a hotel room with his CKC mates! In fairness I think his tent was soaked through mind.

not wanting to dig up the past but what was agreed last year went a bit pete tong when the new moderators were announced as some members felt that moderators shouldn't be on the club committee meaning it all needs to be redone.

Not wanting to dig up old ground either but it wasn't so much that mods shouldn't be on the committtee but the lack of communication to the great unwashed about it.

Sadly we won't be at Stoneleigh this year (commitments to a magazine unrelated to kit cars) but I'd be happy to see the formation of a club, along the lines of what was discussed last year or as Adrian suggests donating the money to charity. I would have gone for the wine women and song option but as I won't be there I don't think that would be fair:p .

well here we go again
what a shame really
but i do like baz,s idea of informal meetings
perhaps they should be done on a local basis
then perhaps maybe if the willpower is there then
we can perhaps amalgamate the the local factions
maybe this forum and its members were too raw/green last year to get it together
first time
cheers les g

Agree with you there Les

There is one thing missing.......a sense of humour is needed.

If a club was as boring and "old fart like" as this forum then it won't stand a chance.
We are only on this planet for a wee while so why take life seriously.....lighten up and have a laugh

thanks les g that was the idea

TBH i didnt think it was of "best intrest" to have supplyers or moderators in charge of the new club but i dint have the time to do it so who am i to comment

think the funds would be best spent on strippers for stonleigh roadsters camping area :D

Ok gents, since the calendar is not up and running I thought I would make you aware of the members hillclimb practice session at Loton Park, near Shrewsbury.
