I've found a 1993 2.0L Auto Mondeo with just 63K on the clock. Is this just the same as a manual 2.0L bar the fact it hasn't got a flywheel? I've kept everything off the other engine I'm scrapping like ECU ,crank pick up,sensors, loom, spare head etc.
It's in a recyclers yard and two cars behind it is a K reg 1.8 Escort with 55k on the clock. Has this got the flywheel I need? Is the Escort sump worth having as opposed to the Mondeo one? I could kill two birds with one stone if so.
Any thing else I might need?

Engine is the same, just needs the flywheel off the 1.8.
Sump on the Escort will be a bit flatter and shorter but don't forget to get the pickup pipe as well! The water pump may be worth grabbing as well.

Only other difference is the crank sensor, make sure you use the one from the manual car you had, as the auto one sits at a different angle and won't pick up the signal from the flywheel.

its a plastic thingy bolted onto the block. you will see it once the flywheel is off

I've kept almost everything from the scrap engine except Block, crank, flywheel and pistons.
I'd like a 1.8 flywheel, sump and water pump so I've decided to buy both engines, hopefully with the 1.8 ECU. That means I'll have a pre 95 1.8 for sale soon minus the bits mentioned above. (I'll fit a 2.0Lsump to it)

Well I bought both plus the escort ECU, Escort clocks and part steering column from the escort for the joint. Both engines came with all ancilaries so I'm going to try to flog some of it to recoup some costs. Cost me £220.
I had to know what condition it was in so I've just whipped the head off and it's in perfect condition. Still got the hone marks on the bores with not a hint of wear. Oil is clean as owt and looks to have just had new cambelt so been looked after. Block just needs the old paint cleaning and a quick touch up.
Going to pull the head off the 1.8 so I can assess it's condition before putting it on Ebay. What's it worth with the Ecu and 2L cams?

Its the alloy casting that is differant not the sensor itself.

I've kept the sensor and adapter from the 1.8. Been doing a bit now and again.

Been trial fitting the engine and not happy with the gap between stat housing and chassis so....

I'll plate the open ends eventually.
