im using a 1800 zetec engine from a 93 fiesta
i just have plopped the engine and box in the hole where it should be to check to see how to mount it up and also popped the rack in temp.
looks like there is no room at all for the shaft from the column to fit.
oil filter on one side and diagonal tube (one with the top rear suspension bracket on)
any one else had the same isues? and how did you work around it
i thort about useing a shorter oilfilter as the std fiesta type is quiet long
its a shame its not mounted on the block like a cvh

Google Zetec Cat, there a great website that details the Zetec install really well, and gives details of which oil filter to use. I've got it on mine, but can't remember from what car.

Cheers

Hi Baz

I had the same problem with my 1.8 Zetec & have fitted an oil filter from an early OHV Fiesta.

Just been out to measure & it is aproximately 80mm in length .... Can't read the part number because as sods law says, it is underneath

Any short oil fiter with a 3/4" BSP thread should do the trick ( Assuming the OD is suitable ) ;)

As mentioned there are a few alternatives, i had the same problem on mine which is even worse as there is an oil cooler inbetween the block and the filter on the st170

I think it was a 1.4cvh filter i used in the end, but check first before you buy one as i may have just imagined that! i have used parts from so many different cars during my engine swap its hard to keep track!

What about a remote oil filter?

What about a remote oil filter?

It did cross my mind too but a £3.50 oil filter solved my clearance issues so i didnt think it was worth the cost

I put a remote filter on mine. I found using a smaller one, Renault 5 turbo I think looked ideal with a enough clearance but round the track found it rubbed anyway.

Put the remote on for piece of mind.
