Does anybody have any plans or dimensions for a full cage. I fancy a full gae now rather than a roll bar. I have built chassis to suit GRP body and rear tub.
Thanks for your help

I have been designing one with a engineering company... to my own design but to meet FIA standards.... a little over kill being 50mm tube 2mm wall but it will be strong. The front legs will be outside the chassis as I am over 6ft and would like to keep the leg room. I haven't finalised how I will have the front hoop attach to the chassis either yet.
Very similar to MK rollcage but will NOT have s bend in front legs of roll hoop.
Not sure on the price exactly yet but I could probably get him to make up more once the design is complete and trial fitted to chassis.
I am expecting around £500
If you are interested I will let you know in the next week what it will cost for sure.

What do you think of the price..... does that sound reasonable?
I'm not sure what other companies charge... I phone a couple one said £1500 and the other said £800.

I'm planning to go for a full cage but not meeting FIA spec but mainly for show and general looks it should be safe enough if the wost should happen but the only problem i see with it is the front legs have the curve in it giving it a Weak point.
hope this helps:

Looks nce Deanno, commented on the look of your cage b4. What does it need to be made out of? wall thickness etc...?

Leigh,
its not my cage but its the one i plan to copy,
i agree its not to FIA spec as i am only going for looks but for IVA i'm putting the standard hoop on as this will be used when i eventually put a screen on as i plan to use it as my everyday car.

for hill climbing i would think just a roll over bar?
where abouts are you located? there is a hillclimb in Llys-Y-Fran on the 8th May and 17th June.

Thanks gents, sorry Deanno, got a bit confused there, thought that pic was your cage, I have seen it before.

I am in Wrexham so a bit of a trek. I went to a hillclimb near Shrewsbury a week or so ago and it is on again end of the month so will I probably go again.

The price seems reasonable. It is more than what I would like to pay being a tight arse, but probably a fair price. I was asking for dimensions/plans as I would have a go making my own, havent priced up steel yet, but would imagine it would be alot cheaper than £500.

I am pretty sure if you hunt around on here there are PDF drawings of that rollcage shown in the thread above.
The steel is around £15-20 a meter for CDS to the right spec... The bends must be rotary drawn or manderal bent to meet FIA spec which is the only reason I am getting it bent for me really.
If I was purely using it for track days I would defo make it myself. But I am was hoping to get a few races in 750mc RGB this year :D

excellent, thanks for all your help. I think I will go with this rollcage. I really like the look of it. Although not FIA compliant it should be ok for hillclimbing and give more protection than a single roll bar.
Cheers:D

Good to see the drawings are still floating around on here.
Have a look at my photobucket account if you want to see some of the cage finished on the chassis.
Cheers
