Hi

Can someone help. I was wondering, when mounting a MT75 gearbox do people use the gearbox mount (it's the one that bolts to the box with one large nut and the Sierra body with two either side)and fabricate brackets to the chassis to suit? or make a new mount completely?

Thanks
Leigh

When I mounted my type 9 I bought a new mounting rubber from Caterham, and then made some steel plates to suit. It was cheaper to buy the new Caterham mounting than an original Sierra one trade from the autofactors.

Plus it is a stiffer mount reducing gearbox movement etc

Cheers

Ok thanks good idea, didnt think of that, I will see if someone does a MT75 mount. Just had a quick measure and I cant use the sierra mount as it would poke through the transmission tunnel into the car! ha ha

Cheers

I'm fitting a MT75, I took the original square rubber cup, ground out the rivets, gave the metal work a scrub and a lick of paint and then fabricated some location plates out of 5mm plate.... worked a treat

Are you saying the sierra mount fits in/under the transmission tunnel? or did you make it narrower? Or am I missing something obvious here?!

I'll go take a picture now and put it up here so you can see what I've done (that's not to say you should do it this way) it'll give you an idea of what I mean a pic speaks a 100 words and all that
