What chassis/frame is this?

Hey, newbie here.

I have been thinking about building a kit for some time now and finally decided to jump in!

Like to think my skills are pretty good with a spanner, I have rebuilt a few engines in the past and done numerous HG's, replaced brakes, exhausts, clutches etc. And I'm not bad with a welder. So hopefully I shouldn't have too much trouble building a kit!

Anyway, I have seen this chassis for sale and wondered what it was.

I am told is a locust series 2 frame ready to take sierra running gear, and that it did have a 2ltr dohc sierra engine and gear box in it at one time.

I have also posted this on the locost forum but thought I t might be better here as you guys have more experience with kits using the sierra running gear.

Doubt that will take sierra running gear without a lot of modding. And it looks unfinished in a number of areas.

I would say it's Ron Champion Locost with a few tweeks, the tranny tunnel is parallel so not built to suit the Escort axle which has the diff offset.

All it needs is some plates to hold a sierra diff and use the 5 links as per the Locost on a De-Dion tube and bobs yer uncles fanny's wotsit

The stern (back) looks exactly like a Rorty IRS in the making - the same I had built. This particular Rorty was designed for the McSorley 442 & 442E chassis to fit the Sierra rear end.

Beware of such a chassis, and even though I added the extra width of the chassis to the rear carriers, it was still in error, hence for the double carrier beams on my ride - spin off it is now immensely strong and can handle any power safely:cool:

Here was a reply from me from elsewhere and I quote:
Do not touch that.....it will come and haunt you.
I have a McSorley 442 with Rorty IRS designed rear end for Sierra. Even allowing for the wider body of the 442 the Sierra diff and shafts would not fit. Eventually had to move the the carriers out by another 80 - 100mm on average to fit.
Deja vu for the rear shocks - with the Rorty uprights and built to the letter of his plans, I was left with only 200mm for shock and spring when the car was set on riding height Mayor surgery again so save the day.

Sad part, he did not even responded to my mail informing him the plans are in error.
