To fill you in on the story...I bought a new welding mask back in December 2010 , a nice variable auto dimming number...recently it has started to dim far too much, to an extent I cant see what i am welding...so I took it back to the welding suppliers 2 weeks ago as it is still within its 1 year warranty...I get a phone call from said supplier yesterday saying that the mask is 16 days out of warranty  how come says me ...It would seem that the manafacturers are starting the warranty the day it leaves them...so my supplier has had it on the shelf for 6 months before i bought it....SO I go into speak to the dung hole in the suppliers "nothing we can do about it" ...i get angry start swearing ...so he gets his boss...he trys to smooth things out by trying to charge me a half price repair at 37 quid....so after i tell him where i will ram the mask he has agreed to phone the suppliers head office and try and resolve the situation....Now i paid full price for the mask there was no mention of old stock or limited warranty so who should be sorting this ? the manafacturer or my welding supplier

Phone the supplier and just let them know you are going to let trading standards sort it out.Usually works everytime.:)

Your supplier is fobbing you off.
You need to remind him that according to the sale of goods act the sales contract was between you and him, not between you and the manufacturer. The warranty starts from the time of sale, not from the time of manufacture - he has to assume responsibility for it.
He has a legal obligation to take it back if it is within the warranty period.
Your local trading standards will back you up.

Exactly as Enoch has said, the warranty is with the supplier not the manufacturer.

i agree with the trading standards route give consumer direct a ring they will advise you where you stand i assume you still have the sales recept the warranty always starts from the date on that
