Hi Everyone,

So I bought the book (Chris Gibbs book) last week, it arrived I have read it from cover to cover twice already and have now given it to my brother in-law to read who will be helping me with the build.

I am unfortunate enough to be living in South Africa (although we do have much more sun here ;) so picking up a sierra for 200 quid will never happen. Anyway, I have been keeping my eye on Gumtree and there have been quite a few Sierra station wagons (i think they call them 'estates' in the UK) Are these usable as a suitable donor? Would you all mind taking a look at this one and giving me some advice please?

Heres the link: http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-R35K-URGENT-1991-Ford-Sierra-to-swop-or-Sell-R15k-W0QQAdIdZ296832729

I would also like to know if you could use a Ford Sapphire (not sure whats its called in the UK) See this link for the Sapphire: http://capetown.gumtree.co.za/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-auto-parts-accessories-ford-sapphire-3-0-glx-W0QQAdIdZ290442786

Many Thanks.

Jason

Seems ok to me.The only thing is that the estate/wagon ran a lower gear ratio i think.Maybe TT will confirm this :D
(Ford sapphire in uk also)

Im pretty sure you could use either. The sapphire was called the sierra sapphire here in the Uk. Basically a sierra saloon rather than a hatch, we never got the 3 litre engine though :(

The only mechanical difference between a sapphire/hatch and an estate is the shock mounting for the estate. Which you will be putting in the bin anyway.

Gear/Diff ratios are the same for a given engine package unless someone specified something as special order.
