Petrol heads & football?

Im just in from watching the mightly Glasgow Rangers defeat Blackpool Fc :)
then as i always do, have a quick check on the forum.

This got me thinking, im an electrical engineer and the bulk of the guys i work with are mechanical engineers, knuckle draggers i like to call them :p are into cars/bikes, but hate football.

I like both, but I think petrol heads by n large dont like football. is it one or the other is my question?

I hate football it's played by a bunch of over paid media hyped bunch of fairies but I think that I despise cricket more than any thing else. Cricket is a game that came from a time when it needed to entertain the british army who where posted in a country with nothing to do for day after day after...... Times have moved on and now we have quicker paced games that make entertaining TV.
F1 although at the pinnicale of motorsport I also find boring as it pretty much high speed follow the leader and I tend to fall asleep half way through. I'm pretty much a paid up member of the petrol head club and what mostly grabs my attention is the engineering and development behind the car,bike,truck,space frame etc. Not the sort of stuff thats had minor tweaks but the fully purpose made and fabricated stuff used in short fast paced action like rallying,rally cross,autograss,stock cars,drag racing,touring cars BTCC, bikes WSB BSS.

i hate most sport unless it involves an engine f1 is pi$$ poor at the minute too. i can never find the btcc on the tv when im available to watch it.

im a "knuckle dragger" but work with a load of well............. id say idiots and pettie chaps who dont like a younger man in a position of authority and doesnt like football as they all love it.

but then they bicker like children when theres a derby on or one of the commercial teams plays another ! its pathetic 22 odd men chasing each other around in shorts ! seems a bit homosexual to want to watch it !!!

I wouldn't say I hate football I've just never found any interest in it. I don't mind rugby but cricket is just plain boring. Love any form of motorsport including current F1 season. One mate navigates in historic rallying (1961 Saab 2 stroke) another mate rallys a 6r4, hillclimbs a mk1 escort rally spec and his mrs hillclimbs and sprints a Lotus Elise.

My GFs boys are big into football so I'm now following Leicester City again so I can at least seem knowledgable about the Championship, sad thing is I'm getting quite into it and looking forward to a few matches this year, up the Foxes

I love my motorsport and also my football, I coach my sons under 10s team and have done for 3 years now......I'd rather watch kids that age than the top players, seeing them develop from little sheep that just follow the ball in a big group to a team that can knock the ball around and play good football is fantastic........oh and as for winning (or losing) we do our fair share of both but no-one really cares!!!

dont like football rarely like people that are into football socially or intellectually. while all these premier league footballers make millions for kicking a bit of pig skin round a muddy field i will just bumble on going to work every day developing new technology to beat cancer like i do every day :D . My job is pretty serious family cars and friends are my sport. after that i dont really have time for anything else.

and watched by hooligans.... I actually crap myself when that shitty world cup came to my country last year and referred to as the most beautiful game in the world.:confused:
Watch world television and often soccer spectators went bannanas, in and out of the arena, damaging property others worked hard for - sorry sirs, I hate this game with a passion. Never would you see such behaviour at rugby, cricket, golf or at tennis matches, not to mention the king of sports - motorsport.

Locally we have standard production car series and this causes some mirror bashing and bumper to bumper racing most of the time with lots of spills and thrills. The seven/locost racing is not to bad either but not as big as in say UK.

As for F1 - who still watches that boring follow the leader affair where no overtaking to speak off happens, or worst still, decent racing lacking:(
