Kombi, Break, SW

Hello Everybody,
I'm looking for a donor car, and here, in Sweden, station wagons (break as we say in French, or Kombi as they say in Swedish) are very popular.
So there are a lot of Sierra SW available for quite cheap prices when I look at the adds for 2nd hand cars.
I am wondering if, as a donor for the Haynes Roadster, it will make a difference to get the SW rather than the sedan ? Engine, gearbox, prop shafts, brakes, and so on should be the same, no ?
Other question, what should be, to your mind, the maximum mileage of the donor car ? My choice will be a 2.0i SOHC from after 1990.

Estate makes no difference.

You won't find a >90 Pinto 2.0i as they were replaced with the DOHC in early 1989.

Thanks for your reply. Does that mean that I can't find SOHC with injection ? I've been told the DOHC is higher and it could be difficult to fit it in the roadster. Perhaps it is just a question of bonnet ?

My donor is a 1989 2.0i SOHC, it was first registered on 14/12/1989.

I can't seem to get the picture any bigger without going over the size limit for inserting pictures, unless anyone can tell me what i'm doing wrong.

I have just been given a 1.6 CVH sierra as well, cost, nothing.

Continental cars may possibly have had the pinto later, but it may have been a run out to get rid of the spare engines.

DOHC and SOHC both suffer from the plenum sitting above the normal bonnet line.

Jonh.W, I guess you are in Germany ? So it could be the same here in Sweden, I might be able to find a 2.0i SOHC ? I just have to make sure with the seller before buying the Sierra. We'll see.
John.W, did your donor car have a catalyst ?
If I can't find a SOHC, and I have to choose a DOHC, any chance to fit it under the new Saturn bonnet, even by modifying the sump ?

Probably one for Robin is seems a shame to not use the standard injection with the twin cam and the pinto. Is the throttle body bolted to the front of the inlet plenum on the 2ltr twin cam and is it the same tb as used on the pinto? Could a slimer plenum not be fabricated to sit more horizontal rather than vertical?

I've been in touch today with Andy from Saturn. He told me the DOHC fits under the new bonnet, (enough clearance for the camshaft cover) but you still have to modify the inlet manifold. Andy directed me to the building diary of Enoch who fitted the DOHC under his Saturn bonnet :

Hi Voucht, Yes I am am in Germany and yes there should be simular cars in Sweeden. I think my donor has a Kat but I have not stripped it out yet so not 100% sure, I will have a look tomorrow and let you know ok.

Thank you John, it is very useful to me.
The Sierra at 1€ looks great on ebay.de, unfortunately I can't buy the donor car now (need to modify my garage first), it is a bit too far, and have you noticed : it is an automatic gearbox. But thanks anyway.
So I know thanks to you that I should be able to find a Sierra SOHC 2.0i from after 1990, and catalyst have been compulsory in Sweden since 1989, so the car will have one for sure.
