Just curious if anyone can suggest a good cheapish coolant to use with the CVH? They seem to come in all sorts of types and some quote only to be used with engines made before 1998 like http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_17 6881_langId_-1_categoryId_229902 so does that mean I need something like this or will a generic one like http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_16 0508_langId_-1_categoryId_229902 work fine? Also how much have people found they had to put to fill it up with using a smaller radiator?

The standard Blue stuff should be fine.

I believe Ford recommend a 50/50 mix for winter use.

One tip I would impart to anyone, when you first commission a pre-used engine or pre-used cooling parts.
Just top the engine up with plain water, run up to temp & once you are happy that there are no leaks & all is fine.
Drain the engine down, then add your antifreeze mix.

If the waterways of the engine or radiator were particulary grubby it may be worth the addition of a cooling system flushing additive ( Rad flush ) when you first run the engine.

Antifreeze is too expensive to waste ;)
